not even close. DB rye BBT was amazing. Rye BBT23 was quite the let down, especially with how good 22 rye BBT was.

I felt the same way about RBBT23. Never had 22 but batch 1 was an all time side project stout for me

Is O.W.K. always available for pours at the Cellar? I see it on the menu but just wanted to double-check.

Last year MJK was available pretty much all of December, so I think it’s likely that OWK will be available for most of this month.

Langst 2023 is available to members. $50/750ml. I really enjoy Langst but in other barrel aged STL beer news Modern released BA Looted Art + Coconut today for almost half the price/oz and it's in 12oz cans.

They did a soft opening 2 weeks ago, food was free, testing out their systems and everything. The flash-fried soft pretzels w/ beer cheese are fantastic. Burger was also quite good.

This also seemed like it spelled the end of Pizza Champ frogger-ing across Manchester.

Honestly I'm not sure why they were even allowing delivery from the patio to the brewery. Manchester is a shit show lol

Yep - under ideal circumstances, it's a shit show. After about 4 15% pours, it's an accident waiting to happen.

The brewery is slowly morphing into a brewpub for families on weekends, which is not a bad thing.

I hope they keep the cellar the way it is. There is a very specific smell at the cellar that is innate to the experience of drinking there. I would hate if it started smelling like food and takes away from the experience of drinking there. Although I can see them pulling off a curated cheese menu there that could easily complement the experience, without taking anything away from the smell or overall beer experience.

If I want to drink in St.Louis while I eat, I am heading to Modern, Perennial Lockwood, or Rockwell. Even if the beer is better at Side Project, I find most of the beer I go there for does not complement the food they sell (pizza and burgers).

Over/under on how long Langst will last? 4 months?

Also speaking of adambier, I noticed that it's not a recognized style by BA. BA has Langst as an Old Ale. What style does adambier fall under? Rauchbier?

With Continuance out there for so long, over 4 months easy on Langst.

Not sad about it, though. I have a good friend who can't do stouts but loves strong ales, and Langst is right in that wheelhouse.

i would say old ale is about as close as it gets. perhaps american or english strong ale? definitely not rauchbier for several reasons (that’s a lager style, use of smoked malts, tops out at about 6% ABV)

edit: i think i misunderstood your question. i thought you were asking does langst specifically fall under rauchbier. so, i guess i don’t have an answer for you. sorry!

Yeah Langst really isn't an adambier by any historical style standards either, which I'd generally describe as a sour rauch. Seeing as Langst is neither smoky nor sour, and never really has been either, it just always seemed more like a barleywine-stout blend or maybe slightly quad-like.
