3 Sheeps The Wolf 1792 BBA Imperial Stout, 13.4% ABV. @GreenBayBA shared this with me last Saturday, and it was world-class. He also shared a 3 Sheeps The Wolf Barrel Select 13% ABV, also world-class. In my haste to savor these, I took mental notes for reviews, then lost the paper. I did get a classic GreenBayBA sunset picture of the 1792.

Good afternoon, all! Late lunch at Whiskey Road, Cedar Falls, IA featuring a 6-ounce pour of Toppling Goliath Mornin' Delight, vintage 2019. Huge aromas and flavors of maple syrup up front, with coffee, vanilla, licorice, cocoa, and a hint of char. Syrupy, not cloyingly sweet, lots of alcohol warmth. This is better than I remember it, and I rated it 5 then. Amazing beer!

2023 bottle of Barrel Aged Christmas Bomb! 13% ABV. Poured at fridge temp but allowed to warm for 10-15 minutes before tasting. Pours black (not overly thick) with a thin layer of brown head. A really nice chili pepper heat is immediately evident on the nose. Followed by chocolate, cinnamon, maybe a hint of vanilla, and a slight nutty note. No real evidence of booze or barrel for me on the nose.

The taste is incredible. Again, the chili pepper is there, providing a really nice heat. After this I get vanilla, milk chocolate, cinnamon, marshmallow, nutmeg, molasses, black licorice, burnt toffee, and a nice nutty note. The more I taste this, the more I think hot tomales candy. It's the heat combined with the cinnamon. I'm loving it. Not really getting a bunch of barrel on the taste either, but the other flavors are pretty intense so I don't see a window for the barrel to climb through.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied, and the aftertaste is pepper and cinnamon. Lovely beer overall.

First time having this the other night, and if this is one of the recipes they shared with BYO, I might have to give that a whirl. Tasty.

I haven’t been here in a minute but it seems like Double Barreling is the hype trend in IS - Boulevard, Ommegang, even Forest & Main?! with double barreled stouts.

Everyone did it this year. Tree House just released their first double barrel stout (I think) and I’m having trouble not buying it for $28 when I finally stumbled on the Eagle Rare BCBS locally priced at $50

Maybe it means “Extreme Pastry” is passé and extra complex is the new fad.
    Well, one can hope.

Deep, dark, opaque brown pour; looks thick and viscous; thick, lasting light brown head, semi-creamy texture. Rich smell of milk chocolate and cocoa powder. A truly amazing taste; rich milk and dark chocolate flavors; sweet but not cloying; light sense of underlying booziness; strawberry hint. Amazingly dense and velvety body; rich and sticky; soft and spongy.

Rarely have I come across a dark beer so thick and rich in sensory pleasure. The taste and mouthfeel and simply incredible. I noticed in a description of the base 3-Way stout that the brewery does use three kinds of chocolate, but it is a secret as to what they are. There is no secret that this is a world class beer (in my eyes).

    ----------------------------------------------------------

...I visited the brewery just over a year ago...it's hidden away in the basement of an old office building in Lincoln, NE, but every beer I've tried from them has been top-notch.
