Very nice. Have you tried any of the Medianoche’s from Weldwerks? I’ve only had the Rip van Winkle aged one and it seems very similar. Crazy thick, tons of chocolate, but not that sweet

Cosmetics : new cap and label highlighting coffee stout and adding the Lagunitas dog. This year it’s sold in six packs as it was in the past; recent releases were four packs.

This year's version is listed at 12.4% compared to 13.1% last year. As one might expect, better head and carbonation in the 2023.

Much to my relief the nose and taste are very similar. When blind tasting after initial samples, I was unable to tell them apart by aroma. To my palate, the only substantial difference is more coffee in the taste in this year’s version. Both versions had the good barrel and sturdy malt base we’ve come to expect from this great stout. Cheers.

It is less good than every barrel-aged stout that Toppling Goliath Brewing brews that does not involve maple. They go way overboard with maple with all the stouts they brew involving maple. It makes me believe that based on ratings for maple-based stouts, it must be common for people to drink liters of maple syrup, then finish their evening with a few sips of Guinness stout. I have a bottle of this beer. I plan to share it with people in this thread. I need volunteers.

 

It has the best nose of any beer I have experienced. No doubt about that.

 

It just has that KBBS look, thick and rich.

Thank you, sir. It was snailing outside. Simultaneous snow, rain, and hail. The brewery sold their last available bottle, but it is worth hunting one down.
