Sigh... would really like to make it to this, but the 5 pm start time on date night is tough.

Thanks for the heads up! The chances of me getting over there on Friday are small but non-zero.

But the chances of me getting over there to try the kellerhelles at some point this weekend are very, very good.

Well, Ninth and Fitzwater will deliver sandwiches to P.Nut.

I'm very iffy myself, since we're camping this weekend, but maybe I can run out for "supplies" at 5.

I'm pretty certain that's not going to cut it as far as my wife is concerned.

Are they still doing this? If so, we're going after Oysters and Gueuze.

Oh fuck off, you trying to get me divorced?

It's only the last Friday of the month that they do this.

Hah! My wife will be there too this year, so we'd both be in trouble. I guess the calendar (may) save us.

Drove by the new Crux location in Portland a few days ago. Despite being in an odd location, the place looked to be packed. appeared to have a good sized outdoor seating area as well. ill probably check it out sometime soon and will report back

Funny... was just talking to the bartender at Imperial about this. He's over in the area a lot, as he's a fan of Chuckanut and Beermongers. He mentioned the same thing... that so far the new spot seems to be doing pretty well.

Stopped in last week with the missus and we were impressed. The service was excellent - tasters to try their wares kept coming without request but definitely not unwelcome. It obvious cannot compete with the vibe of the outdoorsy Bend facility, but I was digging it. I think all of the outside tables were taken but it was one of those super hot days, so sitting inside was the best option. The food was a little more interesting than I was expecting. We split the jerk chicken sandwich which was nice.

A nice addition to the incredibly full spread of options in this city.

Figured this thread could use a bump, and this seems like it could go here:

17 Days of Fresh Hop Beers
A great event for visitors and locals alike!

It is, but a few things to keep in mind.

There are no half pours or sampler trays, you have to buy these beers by the pint. Last year I told the bartender I just wanted half pours, but would pay for a full pint if that was the only option. She was cool with that, and after the first pour or two, she knocked a buck or two off the price. No guarantee that will happen this year.

While I'm here... Roscoe's is holding a fh competition on the 30th (of September). They're going to pour 8 different fh beers blind, and participants vote on their favorite. The top 4 move onto the next round, and then the final 2 and then the eventual winner.

Roscoe's tends to take fh season pretty seriously, so I would expect the fh beer participants to be pretty interesting.

Are there any brewery/bar events of note taking place this Saturday or Sunday?

What is of interest to you? There aren't any massive events I'm aware of , but depending on what you're looking for, you can easily make your own.

I'll grant that mid-December is going to be a very quiet time of the year for beer events, but I was thinking something as small as a "new release that sounds neat" or "a tap takeover somewhere" would count as an event of note under the circumstances.

ill just say this. Between Loyal Legion eastside PDX and Apex (about 4 min away from LL) you could have a barrel aged beer festival of your own making.

if you're looking for any special bottles, I know John's market (both locations) tends to put a lot of stuff from their cellars out for sale in December. Westside location has a bunch of vintage Hair of the Dog bottles on the floor.

Deschutes is also having a "special" brunch every weekend in December:

"Saturday, December 16 – Naughty or Nice Brunch: We don’t mind if you’re naughty, just be nice to your server and you’ll be able to try a special selection of vintage Reserve beers on tap and rare special samplings of Reserve bottles"

Thank you all! These were the sorts of things that I was hoping to find out about to allow for a modicum of planning before we get in.
