2023 Illinois Brewery Opening / Closure Thread

Craft beer never ceases to amaze.

 

Out of morbid curiosity I checked the assessor/recorder to see if/when the real estate transferred. The taproom lounge building sold in October 2022 to Terralex Properties and the rear building in May 2021 to someone else.

 

Well it's about fucking time. Had one beer at Lehman Brewery and Farmhouse in Buchanon MI near River Saint Joe. Single worst beer I ever had. The Malt guys were at the top of my list for bad NWI breweries. But I never personally did Bulldog in Whiting.

 

I wonder if he sold the building but rents from the new owner?

I also see the Hammond Brewery building is listed for sale, but not the business.

 

This is great, thanks for sharing. FYI, Emmett's in Wheaton has been dead for a while now.

 

Miskatonic Brewing’s Naperville location is open, yesterday was grand opening per their Facebook. I might try to stop in for a gift card today. Haven’t seen any tap menus but food menu looks good with different Sausages available along with standard pub items.

 

Made it here, cool spot. No beers to-go currently due to Naperville rules, but they are working to offer that. Fries and burger are very good!

 

Yesterday, I had the salt and pepper wings and the longganisa. Both were great. The wings don't come coated in sauce, a chili sauce comes on the side. Easy to eat, not too messy, and slightly smoked.

 

How's their longganisa?

 

Good spice and texture and a nice spicy cucumber relish.

 

Wolfden in Bloomingdale is on Facebook ringing the warning bell that without some support they'll be closing.

Has to be one of the nicest interiors for a brewery. Oak doors, oak trim, really nice craftsmanship. I live close by but don't get over there much...so many brewery options in that area. That said, I never understood why they are the only brewery that has 13oz as their biggest serving size. Hope they make it...it is a nice local place to stop in.

I would ask for clarification on what I'm missing, if this stuff was flying out the door.

If they really want to be ahead of the curve
they’ll announce their closure before they open.

 

Banging Gavel is now open in the historic Vogt House in Tinley Park. Place looks great, food looks great, and there's beer.
New spot for a Tinley Park crawl, though not really walkable: Hailstorm, Flipside, Soundgrowler, and even Open Bottle. Use the brew bus in the summer again, hopefully.

 

Tonality in mundelein opens a couple of months back. Restaurant and bar with good service. Only 6 beers on draft, but all done serviceable.

Walkable to tighthead and I believe an ex-brewer from tighthead may have helped open the joint.
