What is the worst beer you have ever tasted? Why was it the worst?

For me it is Rampant Imperial IPA by New Belgium. To me, it had a meat taste to it...mostly on the backend. That is my why, a meat tasting beer!!!

Bud Light Lime-a-Rita is the only 1 (lowest possible score), I’ve given out in over 4,000 reviews.

Fox DeLuxe. Oh man that stuff was simply God aweful. 35 years ago and I’m still not over it.

Ballast Point Indra Kunindra. I actually spit it out, and the only other time I’ve done that in my life was when I was 8 and accidentally drank from the cup my uncle was using for his Copenhagen. It was that bad.

That sounds pretty gross, not gonna lie. I have tried a few Russian beers and they’ve ranged from mediocre to terrible, so…

Any beer with "Chelada" in the name gets my vote.

Hazy Bay Juicy IPA. Tasted worse than piss. Drank two bottles at different temps just to confirm how terrible it was. Pabst Hard Coffee was worse however, and was a drain pour, but I don’t really call that shit beer. Lucky Lager, Bud, and Rolling Rock are very bad but I will probably end up drinking at least one of them again at a party.

One that made my list of bad memories was the ill-advised Glutenator from Epic Brewing in Utah. It all comes back to me now:
"This is so overly bitter it tastes like boiled potato skins instead of hops. Woody and bitter and rather acidic.Tastes like some kind of wine cola but the can got punctured so it's flat. The plastic aftertaste permeates the nose. Spoiled fruit and buckwheat with a dose of industrial vinegar. Isn't there some other grain or fruit you could ferment to make something more like beer? If this is what you have to do to avoid gluten, I'd advise going for the cheap vodka instead."

WOW that does sound bad! I have tried a few gluten free beers, no where near that bad!

I don't recall what the tap beer was, but I had it at a local restaurant. It had an odd taste, couldn't put my finger on it, but foolishly drank most of it. Turns out it was infected/contaminated/oxidized due to poor line cleaning. I ended up with a strong metallic taste in my mouth that took 24 hours to fade away. I tried drinking other beers, milk, pop, bourbon, lemon - but nothing would overcome it. Can't blame the beer, it was the restaurant. I let them know.

Ed’s cave creek original chili beer (the one with the nefarious looking pepper submerged in the murky depths like a u boat waiting to strike at your taste buds)

I love beer. I love hot sauce and spicy things. I do not love them together.

I agree 100%. If you like curry, you'll love the smell of this beer. The flavor sucks, but the worst part is the heartburn.

Another worst beer for me was Alo'hop. It had a horrible chemical taste to it. Tried a second time and same thing.

There were still visible faded wall ads for Fox DeLuxe in Chicago in the late 70s. By then Cold Spring was brewing it. And the price was right -- I remember a case of return bottles being 3.99. It was pretty marginal then, but might have fallen further by the time you had it. Other non-national contenders in Chicago then included Edelweiss (Pickett/Dubuque Star), Drewry's (Heileman), Old Crown (Old Chicago/Peter Hand), Walters (Eau Claire). For me Huber's Bohemian Club was the pick of the low cost market then.

Ah man. I've tried so many beers over the years that were revolting.

White Aphro from Empire Brewing was one of the worst, though. Overpowering, artificial lavender flavor. It literally tastes like soap. I shudder to recall it.

Bud Light Platinum. Horrendous aroma reminiscent of stagnant ditch water. If you have any intention of drinking this, I recommend drinking from the container instead of using a glass. Not that you would. (Use a glass, I mean.)

I actually liked Indra Kunindra. I also liked Cave Creek and Ghost Face Killah. I'm probably firmly in the minority on all of these.
