I remember this being much sweeter. Lucky me. Have never really gotten Ancho Chilies in it, despite it being the first listed adjunct. Anyone elese? Still tastes great!

Some brewer (I think it was evil twin) packaged "black and tan" 4 packs that were 2 each of an imperial stout and imperial ipa. This was like 5 years ago but it worked OK for me as a total novice at making black and tans.

The flavor combo didn't work well for me though. I think you want a less hoppy pale beer

Bourbon Barrel Double Paradise. Was a little confused by the label. I thought it was a double barrel aged stout, but it's double the vanilla and coconut. Comes in at 15.7% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours motor oil black with a thin layer of brown head. The nose is full of intense vanilla and chocolate, with an emphasis on the latter. The coconut is actually quite subtle. Really amazing vanilla notes though.

The taste is crazy smooth. Tons of vanilla, some coconut, bourbon, chocolate, slight molasses, and burnt toffee.

Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. The aftertaste is somewhat boozy and full of chocolate.

Last bottle from 2013. I still have a few from 2014–2017, then I must have stopped buying them. This one is a classic and holds up extremely well. Cheers!

Good to know, still sitting on 2016 & 2017 bombers. This and Stone IRS were my intro to Imperials!
    Cheers!

I believe you forgot to mention their Imperial Stout, Old Gnarlywine and The Hairy Eyeball, all $3.99 bombers back in the day.

Found this at a Total Wine a few days ago. I never cared much for the standard Biscotti Break but I like this one quite a bit. Chocolate, lots of maple, pretty boozy and minimal sweetness. No bottling date I can see on it. I guess it's from 2017 or 2018 based off of reviews here and over at Untappd. At $23 I don't think I'll be grabbing another one but it was worth it for a one time purchase.

Roast coffee has a big presence. Chocolate notes coat the mouth. Not too shabby.

@Braunmeister_1943 Where did you source this? A friend in my tasting group is a huge Founders fan so would love to direct him.
    Cheers!

The OG for me. But unnecessarily sweet. Wouldn't call it syrupy, but soupy.

Getting into Burial Brewing's 2022 edition of Houtenhamer, a double-barreled beast that had to be tamed down to 15% abv to meet NC liquor laws.
The barrels definitely deliver a treat. Upon opening the bottle, the local area was taken over by the essence of the barrel. The taste gives a heavy barrel with no suggestion of a boilermaker. Well done, rated 4.51! We'll see how our esteemed leader Tomas @Resistance88 of this our thread perceives this later today!
    Cheers!

    I didn't wanna be super picky
I remember visiting Petaluma on my birthday . 2016 High Westified Imperial Stout was said to be released in bombers. LA hadn't gotten them so i made the drive and i was told i had shown up 2 days early. Cashier said ill be back, walked in the Brewing/production area and came out with a bomber in a brown bag and said , "happy birthday man don't take it out of the bag . " I left with a growler of Night Time and some bombers of Ganrly, but also drank a fuck ton of High West on tap and other great Scare-City releases .
    Ahhhh the good days

Oh sounds delicious. I personally enjoy those big boozy beers when they're a high abv, but especially the lower ABV ones. I'll be opening mine tonight hopefully in a jacuzzi....with no shorts on!

Earlier at the Mortalis line crawl there were so many…Mortalis BA Thanatos, The Bruery Black Tuesday, Corporate Ladder BA Cookie Cutter, BA Mortalis Prometheus, Voodoo BA Hot Garbage, something with super f’ing hot chile peppers, Horus Heresy / Zone Mortalis (surprising dud), TreeHouse stout… Now I’m just pulverizing the last of this day with a Revolution DB VSOD. Extremely well crafted. Has a bit of caramel sweetness IMO like the straight jacket. Works for me.

P.S. just looked it up: Woodford Reserve (my fav barrel for stouts) and Whistle Pig. No wonder I like it so much!
