Flying Fish brewed many fine beers over the years. They brewed a Wild Rice DIPA named Exit 16. To this day just about the best beer ever brewed in NJ.

    From the above:
That's a strange comment from an official of the brewery that just bought the brand.

    "Unfortunately"?
So, they wanted to buy the brewery?

"(F)iguring out options for future stages of operations"
? Huh? What does that even mean? Do they have the capacity to brew Flying Fish brands at the level they are at now or not? And if they don't, why'd they even buy the brands?

The Brewers Association stats (2022 estimates) put Flying Fish's barrelage at 16k and Guilford Hall's (listed under "Brewpubs under 1,600 bbl.") at 450 bbl.

I was beer shopping yesterday and my regular store still has a few four packs left, I was surprised to see them. It wasn't a beer a really enjoyed when I had it so I passed but I'm sure they're still out and about, or so it would seem.

I really do not think this “experiment” will be successful with what’s on shelves lately. I guess time will tell…

Customers like to reward local and that can be state wide or a few miles. The only places that I think can get away with this are places that have customer bases outside of their home region and even then it won't last long. Flying Dog being bought out by FX Matt. DuClaw being bought by River Horse. Both closing up local shops. I don't see this working for Flying Fish.

Bottom line is when people get the gist the product isn't being made "here" then they become just another brewery. People like local because they want something they can engage with and feel a part of.

This is a great take on this. FF is pretty much dead to me. They are now just a brand, not a brewery. The "passion" is gone and it's just marketing.
