End of Year Thread Lockdown Protocols (2023)

Heads up! It's almost time to say goodbye to 2023, which means it's almost time to say goodbye to threads that focused on 2023. You know, the ones dedicated to a brewery, region, activity, and whatnot with "2023" in the thread title.

How It Works:

• On Sunday, December 31, I'll be automagically locking threads down at around 21:00 PST / 24:00 EST.
• After this mass lockdown, everyone is free to create new 2024 threads as needed.
  
• New Thread Requirements:
  • These threads stick around for an entire year, so we expect all thread starters to kick them off properly. Don't be lazy.
    
  • Add " (2024)" at the end of the thread's title.
  • For brewery threads:
    • Make sure you include some form of informative intro to kick off the thread. Feel free to have fun with it.
    • You don't need to replicate information found on the brewery website or social media (like hours of operation), but you should include a link to its listing on BA, website, and social media.
  • For posting pics threads (hauls and whatnot): lead by example; include a pic.
    
  • For appreciation/tastings/review threads: include the guidelines for participation in the thread + a review and pic. Again, lead by example. Setting expectations will greatly help with participation.
• Failure to follow the above may result in the thread being removed by the mod team, allowing someone else to kick the thread off properly. Don't take it personally.

If a thread needs to be locked, or was locked by mistake, please report it for review by the mod team.

I picked 24:00 PST as that's 10:00 EET for me and I didn't want to start too early in the morning on my end, however, I think 21:00 PST / 24:00 EST could work as the 2024 thread start time and then I can handle locking things down whenever I'm fully-caffeinated. (I've adjusted the time in my OP.)

As for thread scoopers, I don't recall too many last year. But if anyone is blatantly doing this, I'd be okay with reporting and removing all of their threads to allow others to more organically create them as needed.

I'm still reviewing everything, but this year's thread lockdown is complete, resulting in thousands of threads being locked to give new discussions a chance to evolve in 2024. These threads include annual (2023) threads, threads that haven't been replied to in a year, and others.

Due to the nature of the bulk actions, the script may have inadvertently locked some threads that should still be open. Feel free to use the in-thread report tool so the mod team can review.
