Thanks for kicking things off, @dcotom!

Here's a delicious homebrewed Red IPA to keep the flow going.

    Cheers!

    Good morning @dcotom and all!

Drinking La Goudale… next week is going to feel like winter and we’ll have bellow freezing point temperatures. For now it’s sunny and cool.

    Cheers.

Good morning and happy new year Advocates to you and your families,
in my absence from here I had the opportunity to visit some new or already seen places and to drink various delicacies or not.
Small note: I drank very little "Christmas" compared to previous years (Avec les Bons Voeux excellent in a 75 cl bottle, slightly less balanced on tap... A bitterness stood out which I remembered as less edgy and which in the bottle seemed much more "in line" with the beer I know).
As the first bottle of the year I'll give you a beer in a style that (most likely) has made you a little tired, but which if well made can still deliver quality products.
It was 3rd place in the Fruit Sour Ale category in the "BIRRAIO DELL'ANNO 2023" competition (one of the two most important national craft brewery contests here in Italy)
Ritual Lab Brewery (Formello, ITA) - JUICE PARTY VOL. 3 - Fruit Sour Ale (with raspberries) 5%.
33 cl can (€5 from the pub fridge - good price), on the label: "Lot: L19 - Best before 05/2024".
It's a fruit sour with wheat and oats as a base and abundant addition of raspberries (the real fruits, no syrups or similar).
As soon as it's uncorked, it smells of berry jam.
Poured even more (raspberry, red currant, berries).
Super evanescent foam (almost like that of a Prosecco), veiled and more opaque ruby colour, but without giving the idea of "dirty".
Invasion of raspberries in the mouth, first the most fruity (and slightly sugary) part, quickly followed by their characteristic acid note which, however, is kept under control without resulting in real astringency. It simply gives a point to the fruitiness, cleaning the tongue and leaving the full taste on the palate.
It's best appreciated when it cools down to room temperature.
A product that makes its balance its strong point: there are no exaggerations and everything follows a logical taste path.
It's true, I would have preferred a more evident acidity, but I already understood from the name of the beer what I was getting into.
Satisfied, although not in love with this style.

Good morning/day/evening BAs! Thanks @dcotom for another morning of Christmas cheer! Back from my first walk in the park of 2024 (took it easy, 1 hour, 1.8 miles), and ready for some joe - KBS:

Bottled 5/23/23. Poured at 54°. Bourbon ball chocolate delish as always.

Hopefully the cooler temps will stick around for awhile…it’s easy morning walking in low 50s degrees. Probably another stay at home and putter kinda day. Cheers and have a wanderlust Wednesday y’all!

Yes! A day unhinged. Thanks @dcotom for 4092. Seems like a good day to bake through a few magical brews. And I'm going to start with the final can of terribly and disgustingly fresh Barrel Theory Rage Quit Pilsner because the 4pk was $13.99 USD. I've already complained about it but maybe not quite enuf. My imagination tells me an employee quit the brewery in a rage, perhaps because the brewery actually released this woeful, limp, sub-par, off-style and meaningless beer. Yes, it is drinkable and certainly isn't gross, but it really is a stupid sad sack of a beer. Everything after this beer will be 3X better in taste & feel. They can't all be good. Cheers folks!

Going to try for a few cellar pulls before heading leaving Chicago next week. This one is awesome once it warms up to the 20-30 + range.

Qualifies for my first Cellar Review, so further thoughts there. Sadly, this is my last can from this vintage.

I look forward to this every year since they started doing it. Past years aged in oak barrels, this year in rye whiskey barrels. So good and at $15.49 per sixer a steal as well.
