My local beer bar has Beer School on Sunday evenings. It is led by the resident cicerone and we taste 4-6 different beers. Each year he has Girl Scout cookie beer pairing. It is great. I am amazed how well the beers pair with the cookies.

Tonight, I had an IPA with an uncrustable PBJ sandwich.

The "Girl Scout Cookies + Beer" gimmick has been going on for years - here's a mainstream media story from a decade ago.
March 28, 2013 NBC Today Show:
Girl Scout cookies and ... beer? Here's how to pair them

(Can't say I've kept up with GS cookies - but they are made by two different baking companies, which own the names so different regions get different cookies. for example one cookie style is called Samoas by one baker and Caramel deLites by the other. It's also kinda a racket for those companies. Just donate money to the troop. [I did that one year, and the troop leader made the scout return it to me. But it IS allowed.]

Plus, once they went to "transfat free" recipes, the cookies are pretty bad.)

You haven’t lived until you pair a Three Musketeers bar with a Jai Alai!

Or maybe I was high.,. I dunno.,.

I put FBS on my Honey Nut Cheerios once. Moral of the story: Don't run out of milk.

I'm a firm believer that anything chocolate goes with anything beer. I'm also a firm believer that any beer goes well with any food.

Years ago, at the Bruery, they added some food items to their Black Tuesday release party. Mind you, this was one of the early renditions before these events got a tad more posh. On this day, I delved into the glory of chocolate covered bacon. Dear Lord! That and a few BT variants were a little bit of heaven.

Reminds me of that classic M*A*S*H* episode where Hawkeye put beer on his Rice Krispies.

There is a dessert I make occasionally with pretzels, peanut butter, bacon, and chocolate that is damn good. Never paired it with beer though:thinking_face: I'll try that next time.

Having a chocolate chip cookie with an AAL is pretty awesome. Pairs as well as milk IMO.

Ok here it is, Cardiologist's delight dessert

I don't really have a recipe I just kind of wing it but here are the basics. Lay thin pretzel rods down on a cookie sheet with sides, filling the bottom completely with a single layer. Make peanut butter icing, this is a good recipe to start with https://sugarspunrun.com/peanut-butter-frosting/#recipe

But I find that peanut butter icings that are creamy, spreadable, and pretty don't taste much like peanut butter so I reduce the confectioner's sugar and butter and add more peanut butter. I don't have exact measurements for this, sorry I just taste it as I'm making it and keep adding peanut butter. It's going to be uglier, thicker, and more difficult to spread, but tastier.

Spread the icing over the pretzels covering them completely the thicker the better imo. The bacon should be crispy and not cut thick, broken into small pieces and push into the peanut butter. Add another layer of pretzel rods on top, push these in too. Then you can either drizzle melted chocolate over everything or cover it completely if you want more chocolate. Refrigerate until everything is set and cut into small squares for portion control but then eat lots of the small squares defeating the purpose.

Cheers and hope you like it!

    Dan
