    P3 2023 thread.

Surprised I'm the one making this on Jan 12, but here we are.

Got an Ambassador invite on Jan 10. I have until Jan. 17 to decide. The ability to pick up at Elmhurst certainly would make life easier as we have family close to there (relative to LZ). I think the no proxy is a deal breaker for me though. My life is just too hectic. And that's fine.

I blame some of you heathens for putting me in this opportunity/predicament.

I’m excited to one day get an invite, perhaps in 2037

It took me a few years, got invited this year and I passed. A lot has changed for me to be excited about this kind of stuff, so it’s just not worth it anymore.

Questions for Ambassadors as I make a decision this weekend...

Oznr says included in the price is "Eight (8) 500ml bottles of barrel aged beers from 4 releases (2 bottles per release)." So does this mean you get 2 bottles of the same beer from each release, or are you getting 2 different bottles, or is it dependent on each release?

It also say, "First right to pre-order public releases at our discretion." Obviously this means they make the call for public releases about whether Ambassadors get to call dibs. Anyone want to talk a little about what that's meant in the course of a membership year (i.e. were you getting access to most public releases; was this pretty limiting; were you not allowed to get dibs on some major releases that bummed you out, etc.)?

Yes, you get 2 bottles of each release. Seems the bottles have shrunk though.

You'll be able to get almost all the "special" public releases, if you want them. I did get froze out of a Minutiae two years ago.

After the taxes and fees on Oznr, basically looking at $34.76/bottle.

The 8 bottles included refer to 4 beer releases where you get 2 bottles of each release.

The access to public release was I thought a decent perk in last year's membership. Meant that I as a member was able to purchase Arches, Aviothic, Minutiae, Arabesque, Planifolia, Strawberry Arabesque (really liked this beer!), BA Pressed 4 pack, Jolted Dunks, Affinity cans (there was at least 1 of these releases).

I will say that many members were chapped that Minutiae Reserve didn't have enough for all members and then there was a public release (personally didn't bother me but I was a new member last year).

Can be a pain to travel for one bottle, but I treat it as an opportunity to visit a taproom and try a few beers. Used to visit breweries a bunch but have since cut it almost completely out so I use this as my one opportunity to visit a taproom each month.

The 4 bottle releases included in the membership allow for a 4 week pick up which is really nice and allows for planning. All of the public releases I listed above only have a 2 week window, but you know what that window is before buying so if the timing doesn't work you can just skip a release.

I'm sure I left things out and think my information is correct, but other members feel free to chime in. Cheers!

The only thing I'll add here is they are terrible about having releases overlap so if you buy any of the additional bottles, don't expect them to be available at the same time as the Eunoia bottles.

As someone from WI I absolutely feel this. But as a Perennial member there was a famous/infamous saying when people asked about a release that "the beers are ready when they're ready". So I understand that it might be very difficult to time public releases with the member releases. Don't take my note as saying you're statement is any less true though!

Curvature 3 redux selling out among ambassadors presale and in 5 min to the public was pretty surprising. The Curvature hype is back?

Ambassador pre-sale for Minutiae Reserve (2024) & Arabesque Reserve (2024) is live. Both beers will be on tap March 1 at both locations.

    Minutiae Reserve 2024:
Back in 2021 we had the chance to acquire some very rare Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 15 Year barrels that had just been emptied. Knowing these casks could potentially be the only time we ever get them, we wanted to put something special in them. We brewed up our "recipe 2" stout at a relatively moderate gravity, and also subbed in maris otter malt as our base malt to add additional richness to the beer. We let the beer age in these rare casks for 29 months before blending, then hitting with a moderate amount of carbonation and then being bottled.

While we typically layer blends of different beer aged for specific amounts of time to give the blend notes of fully aged beer full of umami or younger beer that has more life to it to achieve a blend similar to what this beer offers, this beer, on it's own offers a unique perspective at a blend of casks solely containing fully mature beer from one recipe and one brand of spirit casks - each cask being fully unique in the character it added. Fully saturated with notes of bourbon, cocoa, dark berries, leather, char and smoke, exceptionally smooth. We hope you enjoy this special beer.

    Arabesque Reserve 2024:
A beer that's become a fan favorite: Arabesque, our Dark English-Style Barleywine recipe that was originally put into Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels for 22 months then transferred to a second round of casks that were 80% rum and 20% wheated bourbon. The resulting beer is full of smooth, sweet spirit character. Rum soaked raisins, caramel candies, baking spices, smooth bourbon, and char. Exceptionally smooth for the high ABV of 17.1%.

Elmhurst has Curvature 15 in stock on toast but even that’s sold out at LZ. Neither site has Curvature 3 on toast. When I picked up my Oznr at LZ last weekend I asked if I could buy an extra 2 pack of Curvature 3 and was refused- they told me all remaining stock on hand was already purchased through Oznr. Was great on tap though!

And these are 500ml bottles right? It didn't say on Oznr, or it does and was right in front of my face.

How does it work between putting in for bottles on Oznr - i see 1 bottle for person - makes sense - do you just pick one location or the other to register with? Or does it allow you to miss a bottle at one location and win at the other?

The other option disappears once you pick a location.
