Hi everyone! Happy New Year! (have a beer, cheers)

I've been drinking beer since years now (not on a regular basis). But recently I have developed a bitter taste that I witness when I am drinking it while all my pals have found no changes in taste :/
After looking back into the past what I was able to discover that the main reason is that I've always consumed chilled beers and some at the local bars (house beers).. Unfortunately I've shifted to my own room and I don't have personal access to the refrigerator anymore which stops me from having chilled beers.
A few years ago when I was more likely to go and have a drink in the local pub, I saw them mixing a powder in the beer which completely took the bitter taste out of the beer (or am I not sure what it was actually for) and I was able to consume a lot more than I do now a days..
My only reason for joining here is to get some guidance from experts and if anyone is aware of what powders the pub peoples mixes to remove the bitter taste.

So you and your friends are together drinking the same beer and only you notice bitterness?

Salt works wonders. Or switch to pastry stouts?

Yes, we all are drinking the same beer (Budwiser). I was always the one who used to prefer beer which tastes better and less bitter (even if the affects are less).. There are quite a lot of brands, but Budwiser is among the one which I've been drinking since years.. As none of my friends feels no difference in taste, I am quite sure that I've no access to chilled beer and hence I am feeling that bitter taste. I love drinking beer more than any other kind of alcohol but now I am not able to enjoy it anymore :slight_frown:

Edited: Actually I am always into beer (the past few years ever since I stopped other alcohols) but some among my friends were some into alcohol and some into beers which were more bitter. This difference in taste/bitterness is something which I can follow up because I have been into it since years++ drinking the same brand!

How do I implement the salt to the drink? Like directly into the glass or there are any steps that I need to follow? Pastry stouts, hmmm...I will have to give this a try, if it helps

Very Cold beer can make certain beer styles more bitter and then drinking warm can make it sweeter. If Budweiser tastes bitter to you what beers in the past did you drink that were not bitter? Budweiser generally isn’t know for its bitterness.

Well powder reminded me of this, so maybe some Splenda?

Are you asking how to make warm beer taste better? I've never heard of a magical powder to remove the bitterness, but a cold glass or a small mini-fridge would help a lot!

Try New England IPAs. They contain no bitterness.

Have you been having sinus issues? Some sinus problems can cause you to lose (or diminish) the ability to taste sweet flavors, which then makes the bitterness stand out by comparison.

Also, could you describe the bitterness? Is it like your Bud has too many hops or is it something else?

Budweiser is best served at a temperature of 1°C/33°F. Once it gets much warmer than that, you can begin to smell and taste it. You must prevent that by any means possible.

Budweiser is best served at a temperature of 0°F/-17.7°C just to be safe

Before this thread dies a well-deserved death, I would like some clarification. When the OP says Budweiser, is it AB Budweiser or is it Budvar Budweiser (sold in the US as Czechvar)? I don't know what they have in India.

I'm interested in the powder that is added to the beers. Would love to know what that is all about. I am sure it would not FDA checks.

I recently discovered that bitterness in beer, too. It’s called ridiculous pricing.

Powder? I’ve never seen anyone mix powder into beer, and would never drink it. Seems potentially unsafe.

But now I’m curious, why don’t you ask the bartender?
