Anyone on here that has tasted Zombie Dust, don't you think it is really an IPA and not simply a pale ale?

I have a Mandela effect with this beer. When I first tried it back in 2014 I was pretty sure it was an IPA. Had it again last year and it’s labeled as a Pale Ale, and I believe it’s the highest ranked Pale Ale on this web site. No matter the beer still tasted amazing and didn’t really think it was an IPA either

I’m your hophead. A lot of West Coasties lately Stone, Green Flash, Lagunitas, but Resin is still the King, all of which is widely available and fresh dates.
But I’ve been loving a lot lately on Stone. I also get some love from SoCal.

I love the stamina of a good IPA: Open the can at 7pm and drink it at 8pm. Still good...You have to drink a Pilsener right on, especially when served in a glass...I purchased two 12 packs of Stone IPA today: Best Before 11/23. Still good (I paid 9.99 for each)

Not hating, I like IPAs too.

But if I recall the “appreciation” threads started for under appreciated and less discussed styles. The initial thread was probably the “Salute to Saisons” thread.

IPAs are easily the most discussed style on Beer Advocate.

Anyways, carry on ya crazy hop heads! Enjoyed the new Sierra Nevada Hop Bullet Imperial Magnum IPA myself this weekend!

ZD and PseudoSue are neck-and-neck as far as my favorite pale ales. I always thought both were walking a fine line between APA and IPA, and I'd have no problem with classifying them as IPAs. Best to go with what the brewers say, though.

It’s been years since I last had one but I think it’s more APA than IPA. Wouldn’t mind having another one just to verify.

Drekker/Xül collab Danger Is Oür Büsiness NEIPA, 7% ABV. Poürs hazy orange with a 3+ finger off-white head that left foamy lacing. Aroma is light citrüs. Taste is citrüs and melon, slightly sweet, more than slightly bitter. Pine trees in the afterbürp. Decent smooth moüthfeel, overall excellent. One of their better NEIPAs.

I for one choose to drink an IPA/APA everyday, or at least nearly everyday. I think everyone should as well

Clementines, melon and white pepper pop out of the glass with this one making for a very enticing aroma. But the taste reminds me a little of 6 or 700 similar IPAs I’ve tried with a citrus/melon profile. The sad truth is that, to me, most IPAs these days are fine but fail to distinguish themselves from the herd. One that stood out and that I really did appreciate trying recently was the Heady 20th Anniversary. That was a great beer. @The_Kriek_Freak :beers:

Drekker/Back Channel collab The Ice Treaty Of Peace Midwest IPA, 6.5% ABV. Pours copper with a 4+ finger off-white head that left foam. Nose is malty and hoppy, with some pine. Taste is quite bitter hops and fruit. Decent enough dry mouthfeel, overall very good. Couldn't get past the IBU to taste much else.

Can't say I'm a fan of high bitterness, and this is probably over 60 IBU.

    Keepin’ it Simcoe!

This is the second beer I will be discussing from the Fat Head’s Head Hunter IPA Hoppy Variety IPA (12-pack): Simply Simcoe IPA.

I was unable to find out much about this beer via a web search but from the name “Simply Simcoe” and the ‘banner’ on the top of the can proclaiming “Keepin’ it Simcoe” my guess is this beer is solely brewed using Simcoe Hops.

In the past (e.g., a decade+ ago) I homebrewed a lot with Simcoe hops since I was a big fan of the piney flavor this hop variety provided, then. Lately the Simcoe hops that I have purchased have been more fruit forward with little to no pine flavor. Still a tasty hop but a tad disappointing to me since I really liked this hop in the past.

On the can it provides the information:

    · 7.5% ABV

    · 80 IBU

Well, let’s see what a double dry hopped IPA from Fat Head’s tastes like.

Served in my Spiegelau IPA Glass:

    Appearance:

Golden yellow with a BIG white head.

    Aroma:

A notable aroma which is mostly citrus but in the background there is some pine and even some general fruitiness (e.g., stone fruit)

    Taste:

The flavor follows the nose with mostly citrus flavors but also some pine and fruity as well. There is a notable bitterness.

    Mouthfeel

Light-medium bodied with a dry finish.

    Overall

This beer is excellent!! In my perfect world this would be a year-round beer for Fat Head’s brewery.

    Cheers!

I’m glad to see this forum. I’ve only been posting for a short while, but I had only sen sprouts, porters, Belgian beers - which I love.
But on a daily basis I usually drink IPAs.

I think the same of Sierra Nevada Pale ale, APA technically but really bordering on IPA.

Zombie Dust was so quaffable I couldn’t even review it properly. What a beer!

So… after a glorious two pages dedicated to the most discussed style of BA, are we having a “IPA appreciation thread 2025”?

I don't think so, I've never seen this thread until today, the Imperial Stout page is closing in on 195 pages. I'm a Cubs fan, wait till next year.
That being said, this is my goto IPA 15 cans, $15.
