Like you, I enjoy peace and quiet; really no matter what I’m doing, it soothes my soul. I meet my best friend for a beer every month or so at our favorite brewery, we’re both loners but we enjoy that social get together. However; we go at opening so it’s nice and quiet :beers:

My favorite thing to do when the weather is warm is to sit on my back deck and enjoy a beer. I don't have a lot of friends who enjoy beer and my wife doesn't drink alcohol much at all, so I tend to drink by myself on default. When I go to a brewery I go by myself but I like to chat with the staff and brewer, when they are around. But I'm a little bit of an introvert anyway. It's all good though.

Drinking a new beer is reserved for when I am at home with plenty of time to enjoy it. Drinking with friends tends to involve shots, chugging macro brews, and doing stupid shit. We’re rather immature…

I am a loner in general. I don't like loud rock music, so many bars and night clubs would have a terrible ambiance for me.

Depends. I prefer to drink at home, but not necessarily alone; my partner is with me probably 90-95% of the time that I'm drinking, whether or not she's also drinking.

Now, I really do enjoy a bottle share, or a vertical or horizontal tasting, with friends. I enjoy meeting BAs in person. I enjoy beer festivals and celebrations, brewery anniversaries and events, etc. I don't mind chatting at the bar over beer (sometimes with sports, sometimes not).

But mostly, I do my drinking at home, and while I'm not literally alone, it's the same experience: it's quiet and comfortable, with no strangers or distractions.

I enjoy beer alone and with friends or in public. It’s nice to wind down the day with a cold one, but I get most enjoyment drinking with friends and family.

Tasting beer is a social activity to me: chatting over aromas and tastes in a quiet setting is always an enriching experience. You learn a lot from each other about aromas and tastes and it is fun to serve beer for other aficionados, especially blind triangular tastings of known beers, vertical tastings of known beers or horizontal tastings of unknown beers.

I eagerly look forward to my 6:30 "relax". My beer of choice for the day, some sweet- meats (chips, pistachios, Cheetos!), perusing some latest beer book or online journals...and always BA, the WBAYDN VB especially.
Oh, and did I say I most like to do this in solitude? I'm not a total misanthrope, do go out with friends, but, like Mickey Rourke said in Barfly (roughly): "its not that I don't like people but somehow I feel better when they're not around"

Probably 75 percent of my beer drinking is done alone, my wife hates beer, she rarely drinks at home.
I told my granddaughter once, when I drink alone I prefer to be by myself, ala George Thorogood. She said to me if you drink alone you are by yourself

...I love drinking with people, yet I'm picky about who I hang with...and at this stage in my life, there's no one who associate with much, anyway...I'm fine with solitary drinking...like you, I like solitude (which is not to be confused with loneliness)...

Given how many breweries I have dragged my wife to over the years, I’m sure she would prefer I drink alone more

Aside from just reviewing beers at home, though, I really like the feeling of being “alone in a crowd” … whether this is a brewery or, like, a coffee-shop, I like to be able to enjoy a beverage and people-watch while also reading my book alone.

...your comments got me thinking about my preference about drinking with people...I've had many meetups of late with fellow BAs (sometimes numerous, such as Sheboygan, WI two times recently)...great times...but, again, more times than not, I'm on my own...and I like it...

I drink 95%+ of my beers alone at home with family, but I'm usually the only one drinking. I don't mind having a beer out with friends/family, but having many times when I was younger that I clearly shouldn't have driven (sometimes on a cycle), now I'm paranoid about drinking and driving. So much so, that I avoid drinking away from home, and when I do I limit the amount and ABV. I'm also a control freak about driving. I've had my SUV for 4.5 years and my wife has never driven it (and she's wary about the power compared to her Hemi Charger).

I’m with you about the driving! My livelihood is predicated upon driving (I’m a UPS driver) and can’t afford to lose my license.

I tend to drink quality alone but with others on a night out it will be the tap lager at the establishment.

I don’t go out much anymore but I have some fond memories of drinking beer alone from that 1 litre stein of Weihenstephaner Original after a five a side football (soccer) match to that Rochefort 8 around one Xmas time. I also once had an extremely rare but perfect Cantillon that was divine. Shame it usually tastes like cider vinegar. I have some fond memories of lone drinking.

I must've tried them all by now, but my favorites were a big group playing volleyball in my backyard in the 70s and tubing on The Mayo River with friends and strangers........
