Today's New Breakfast Beer:



Final impression and summation: 4 (After deducting 0.25 point for undated personal container) Very nice take on a wee heavy, although I couldn’t find any toffee/caramel notes. The wood rather than peat smoke ameliorates the flavor, softening it so it’s less like a wee heavy and more like a mild rauchbier. Thanks Ryan – it’s been a while since I’ve had a decent wee heavy!

A cool and drizzly day today , just finished chores and a walk, will open a brew in a couple hours.

 

NODA Hop Drop N Roll is the most interesting fresh IPA that I could find at my beer shop last week.

 

Although this has a nice head on it it's a bit shy of carbonation for my taste.

 

Fat Heads Simply Simcoe Head Hunter IPA. That classic Simcoe character, bringing plenty of grapefruit, pine resin, apricot, floral, and orange peel. Some of that "cat piss" character as well. Fat Heads could pretty much use any hop with the Head Hunter malt base of bread and slight honey/caramel and it's going to turn out just fine. Really solid.

 

That's one murky brew, but it still looks delicious to me. Resident Culture makes a mean IPA. The real stunner is that vintage glass though. Very cool that a bar would have a glass like that.
