Enjoying Snow on the Maple Tree from Clown Shoes. This is nicely done as the add-junk maple is very subtle over the roasty malt base and the barrel rounds the taste out nicely. The most enjoyable one from Clown Shoes that i can recall!

1) Weihenstephaner Korbinian (7.4%): A German Doppelbock with flavors of brown bread, rich caramel, toffee. Smooth.
versus
2) Hofbrau Winter Spezial (8.4%): A German Doppelbock with flavors of brown bread, caramel, toffee, and hints of earth and cocoa. Mild roast. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
2) Hofbrau Winter Spezial: German Doppelbock Battle. Two great ones.
First is Weihenstephaner, ranked #4 within the style on BeerAdvocate. It's excellent brown bread, caramel, toffee flavors. It's sweet, but smooth.
Next is Hofbrau's Winter Spezial, ranked #90. Didn't expect much of it, but might be my favorite I've had of the style. It's higher ABV, but has more cocoa, black malt, and a hint of earth and roast to it. More complex flavors, but also not as sweet. Surly better than #90. Don't sleep on this one.

Weatherman says it’s 72° but my thermometer reads 78°. Wispy white clouds and a nice breeze. The weather has returned to normal. Cheers from sunny SW FL y’all!

A half of Genesee for the rib brine the other half for me. I see more beer in my future with the smoke going on a gorgeous day along the northern front range. Cheers!

 

Fort George/Fast Fashion Pizza Pals IPA (Columbus Cryo, Citra, Waimea, Anchovy, Anchovy Goo). Never head of Anchovy hops, but apparently they were named by the owner of Fast Fashion in Seattle since he initially sponsored acreage of the hop. They're supposed to give off a unique watermelon Jolly Rancher character. I get a bit of that in this one, as well as lots of dried mango slices, yellow grapefruit, starfruit, navel orange, yellow peach, orange and grapefruit peel, and resinous pine. Little sweet up front gives way to a dry and bitter finish. Other than a little chalkiness, it drinks fairly clean. I enjoy this can more than the last one I had. Nice stuff.

 

So good.

Goose Island Hazy Beer Hug IPA on a nice 74 degree afternoon.

I am absolutely enjoying the 3.6% ABV English Dark Mild from Good Word Brewing. Tasty and under 4%. That'll work for me!

 

This one is always welcome. @CarolinaCardinals before Harpoon purchased Clown Shoes they were much edgier and at the time most of those were bomber format. I agree that one is very good, it used to have a bigger ABV, like many of the originals were dialed back and I feel it has hurt the flavors of many. Cheers man.

 

Love that can art, not a bad high ABV beer either

Good luck with that tonight. Spoiler alert: Da Boss and i did the triple vacine back in the fall and both of us had a real rough night. But then again we are pretty old LOL!
