Unfortunately they’re closed on Sundays now.

Hopefully I can make it to the Barleywine festival!

Apparently they were incredibly slow on Sundays. They do a lot of business during the week though, I assume due to businesses being open.

I've been there on a weeknight, place is pretty busy.

Worked in Kendal years ago and lived in East Watertown. Place would be all kinds if busy and then a ghost town on the weekends. When we used to take the bus over on a Saturday or Sunday evening we had the place to ourselves. I vividly remember being snowed in there once or twice, and essentially the few to only ones there. So many great memories at CBC.

Same reason Vitamin Sea beer garden was only open during the week.

Yes I figured that was why. I'm glad they are doing good business on weeknights. I work in Kendall now and lunch is not busy, I think because so many companies bring lunch in and are still hybrid.

Sunday brunch used to be hopping pre-pandemic.

Hope this is a winter change only, love their patio for brunch when it’s nice out.

Sundays are also good post festival. Most of the beers are still pouring and you don’t have to fight the crowds.

I believe they are closed on Sundays, as of a few months ago.
    Cheers

Same boat man. Might not be until 7:30/8 for me.

Although if they were still open Sundays I’d skip Saturday and enjoy a mostly in tact list on a chill afternoon…alas.

Awesome night. Great way to say farewell to Our Finest Regards, which kept pouring until we left at 11 despite our repeat ordering. It's held up extremely well. Other favorites were the 2016 Arquebus and the '17 and '18 versions of Blunderbuss. Those 4 were my faves.

Really neat that they had matched pairs of both barleywines that had only been in stainless to compare to the barrel aged versions. The Arquebus in particular tasted like a totally different beer after barrel aging.

I wasn't a huge fan of the five year special Blunderbuss. The sherry was overwhelming in my opinion. Another miss for a surprising reason to me was the 2014 Blunderbuss. Somehow after 10 years it retained a lot of alcohol heat and hop bitterness. Will must be a wizard to keep a beer that fresh for so long, but I wish it was less aggressive and more rounded out. Maybe in a few more years!

Loved it. Got there at 3 and was able to drink most of the stuff early on and get out at a reasonable time.

The 5 year special reserve blunderbuss blew me away and is my favorite beer to-date by CBC (having had close to 250 different ones). Lotta sherry indeed, and obviously how much you like sherry is going to make or break this one for you (I frickin' love sherry and I love CBC's work with oxidation).

The 2014 Blunderbuss was my second fav. On a complete change of pace, there was almost no oxidation and the beer was vibrant and strong at 10 years. I'm sure the WL Weller barrel didn't hurt; that's a pretty good (albeit strong) whiskey.

Wasn't too impressed with the '17 blunderbuss or the '14 and '16 Arquebuses - so much fricking fruity, sweet wine in the Arquebus. Overall just too much deep grape and sweet, borderline bready malt. I thought most of the blunderbuss had a better all-around balance of sweet/dry.

Unrelated to Barley Wine Fest, but I just opened a bottle of Benevolence. It’s beautiful. Had the bottle for a few years, snd the acidity is soft, the malt and raisin character is terrific. A truly unique beer, one that is hard to categorize but easy to drink.
