Honeydew, watermelon and pine on the nose kind of sweet smelling in a restrained way. Delicate balanced nose, it's not in your face.
Taste is bold with candied watermelon, citrus rind with some pine oil coming through with the bitterness. Creamy mouth feel with a dry finish. Tasty stuff here.

Poured from a pint can, the body is an orange-yellow with a large fluffy white head. Excellent lacing throughout the tasting.

Nose is a citrus and fruit melange. Wafts of peach, nectarine, and Cabernet notes. Hint of dank.

Taste follows nose but is down a level of intensity. Into that void enters an earthy hoppiness. Hoppy but not bitter as style dictates. A light dankness in the finish.

Mouthfeel is soft and luxurious with good carbonation.

Just when I start to think I'm tiring of New England style wannabes, a delightful representation of style is in my glass. As good as Treehouse offerings I have sampled. Nice work here. Thanks to @HoppyJesus for this delicious beer.

Nose is very nice as fresh citrus and tropical fruits abound.

Taste is a light pale malt base that lets the hops display notes of orange, lemon, and mango. Finishes with a rind and pine bittering finish; 7/10 on my bitterness scale.

Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and very refreshing.

Overall a very nice near sessionable brew!

Clear and yet very dark brown body, opaque in the glass; head pours out fizzy but stabilizes to nice 1 1/2 finger thick head, light khaki colored. Fantastic aroma of brown and candi sugars; brownies; roasted nuts; mildly perky spiciness augments all the other smells. Stupendous flavors; deep caramel and nougat notes; honey; brown sugar; a bit of boozy undertone; no real bitterness per se, more of a phenol bite.

I never expected to have this beer, yet here it is. The depth and complexity is outstanding. More tones and nuances emerge as the beer warms up. This is a truly outstanding beer based solely on the taste, a masterful bit of brewing art.

Lupulin BBA Doppelbock, 10.8% ABV. Pours dark-brown to near-black with a 1.5 finger light-brown head that left slight lacing. Aroma is light caramel/toffee, bourbon and malt. Flavor is spicy, roast malt, caramel/toffee, bourbon, faintly sweet, moderately bitter. Decent mouthfeel, no bourbon burn. Overall outstanding.

This is bit of a unique beer, never had a BBA bock before, quite enjoyable. Luckily the ABV was low, given the bigazz bottle.

Best before end 2026 - poured from a caged-and-corked 750mL bottle into my Unibroue tulip.

Clear amber body with a fist of champagne/peach foam. Dense, sticky lacing; excellent retention.

Funk and fruit in the nose with requisite horse blanket, hay loft, pear, and a hint of citrus (lemon/orange blossom).

Hot dog water, pencil shavings, bitter melon, and capsicum on the palate with a nice rustic malt backbone. Herbaceous/grassy bitterness is moderate and persistent (though not necessarily from hops?), leading into a dry, peppery finish with a lingering raw hide/leather element.

Medium bodied with a low but lingering heat balanced between scoville and alcohol. Good full carbonation.

Suitably singular take on a chile beer with Chilean input - happy to have tried, but wouldn't re-purchase.

Out of curiosity I purchased this 2.5% ABV shadow of Tree House's "flagship" Julius. This is January Julius. The use of the month as an adjective implies what they were going for here.
As for myself as Christmas approached I had intentions to do a "damp" January for weight loss reasons. Well a really bad case of the flue (despite vaccination) just before New Year's basically squelched that idea. As I recovered I just wanted rewards (sound familiar @TCgenny?).
Sadly, I have to say that this beer purchase was a bad idea.

Packaged in a 16-oz can stamped 1.4.24. Poured to a Nonic at fridge temp.
Orange hazy body, but much more translucent that a normal NEIPA. A not quite two finger head of white sits on top.
The aroma is of papaya with a medicinal background.
Taste is still has the papaya but it is far overshadowed by a Pepto Bismol taste. Also reminds me of the taste of liquid antibiotics when I was a child.
The body is light as you would imagine. This might be more palatable if it was over carbonated.
I purchased 4 cans and have drain poured the two I opened!

Greetings, fellow NBWers, and Happy woemad Day!

Yes, today marks the start of yet another circle around the sun for your humble scribe. I was supposed to be celebrating it with the Parental Units and my brother and his family on the west side of the state. This time of year, my small, very cheap to operate, but not particularly sturdy vehicle is not something most would want to take over a couple mountain passes, so the plan was to drive down to the Parental Palace (located around two hours to the SW) on Thursday afternoon after work, and then set out Friday morning over White Pass, with me driving the Parental 4x4 most of the way. Unfortunately, said Parentals are experiencing a bout of covid that is beginning to seem never ending, so that trip had to be scrubbed. On the one hand, the Parentals were probably going to take me out to a nice dinner, and my eldest niece and I, who both have late January birthdays, were going to have a joint party, and that has now been canceled. On the plus side, being here means I can properly review and share a beer on this thread, something I probably wouldn't be able to do at my brother's house in Olympia.

To kick off Increased Obsolescence Day's drinking, I chose an imperial adjunct stout from a brewery in north Idaho that contract brews their stuff (in this case, at Payette Brewing).
    I chose...poorly...
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/49409/680342/?ba=woemad#lists
It's a "chocolate orange imperial stout," clocking in at 10.5% abv. It pretty much just tastes like an orange flavored beer with a weak aftertaste of chocolate. The abv is well hidden, but it's boring, one dimensional and remarkably thin.

When I purchased this last week, I also grabbed a couple other beers that were new to me, so it's possible I shall return with another that will hopefully prove more worthy.

Good Sunday afternoon, New Beer Swiggers and commentators. Yesterday was Untied Brewing Company's 5th anniversary celebration. Each year, the brewery releases a DIPA commemorating the completed Trip Around the Sun. This year's release is based upon the brewery's two best-known IPAs, File This and Rays of Haze, although the hop bill of the combined recipe has been tweaked and includes Citra, Amarillo, Simcoe, Motueka, Mosaic, and Columbus. This ale is big and bold, dank, fruity, and bitter, and carries its weight at 8.9% ABV.

Canned on 1/23/2023 so 5 days' old. The color is a cloudy, dirty, burnt orange with a one-finger cap ecru-colored foam and thick, clinging lacing. A big, bright, fruity aroma featuring lemon, lime, grapefruit, orange/tangerine, and ripe pineapple with some additional tropical sweetness. Compared to the nose, the taste opens dank and bitingly bitter. The fruit sweetness plays subtly against a strong crackery malt base. As it warms, the taste expands to include notes of red berry, pine sap, woodsy soil, and pepper. The Simcoe and Amarillo provide a strong dose of dank bitterness. This ale has a plush, creamy mouth feel with pleasant carbonation, and the 8.9% ABV gives it quite a pop.

Nice to be caught up with the thread now that I’m back home to celebrate New Beer Sunday #988!

Back with the second WCIPA flown in from Nevada, this one from my favorite to LA County Breweries.

The Firestone Walker Propagator is a must visit in/out of LAX. While I’ll miss Beachwood’s OG location, I look forward to visiting ISM which replaced it and Beachwood’s close by spot. Beachwood is still going strong in the OC with their great brewing scene including RIIP and Green Cheek.

Beachwood & Firestone Walker Collaboration West Coast Way

Can Notes: Purchased four pack refrigerated 1/19/24 at Speedee Mart in Summerlin on Sahara Ave. for $16.24. 16 oz canned 1/10/24, 7.1% ABV, 62 IBUs, West Coast India Pale Ale. Brewed and canned by Beachwood Brewing, Huntington Beach, California.

    Malt: Canadian Pilsner
Hops: Mosaic Cryo, Mosaic Incognito, Citra, Simcoe, and Columbus

A collaboration with Firestone Walker Brewing Company. Massively bright and aromatic is the way - the West Coast way!

Appearance: 3/4 can pour into my Beachwood nucleated glass yields a crystal clear yeallow straw colored base, burst of strong then sustained mild carbonation, and one of the thickest creamiest heads I can recall. This lasts several minutes before leaving soapy lacing and a creamy thick cover over the base. 4.75

Aroma: Bursting with citrus, pine and tangerine from the can opening, though becomes less strong after a few minutes. Pulling me in. 4.25

Taste: Getting the weird forced cryo/incognito taste, fruits muddled with more of a generic sweeTart effect than anything found in nature. Lots of sweetness, malt slushing around in there as well. Tastes more like a flavored hard seltzer spiked with sweeTarts. 2.5

Mouthfeel: Muddled sweetness, some bitterness but more like rubbing alcohol. Drinks at or above the ABV, slightly dry, medium body, carbonation holds on. SweeTart finish. 2.25

Overall: Would have passed if I saw Cryo and or Incognito on the can. Must be more diligent in my purchases. Hard to explain with two breweries I can typically count on to knock it out of the park. Hard pass unless you like SweeTart rubbing alcohol flavored drink. 2.5

Meh, saved the wrong beer for Prime Time (New Beer Sunday) this weekend. Catch you next week with hopefully two bangers.

From what I've read (I'm sure someone else an confirm), the bottling date is 3 years prior to the date printed on the cap, making your bottle a bit less than 5 years old. A remarkable/classic ale that holds up about as well as any beer to extended aging (the one I had was ~12 years old) - cheers!

@Whyteboar not sure if Jackie O's still has this in stock but picked up a couple BA Doppelbocks (Convex Refraction) when at the brewery last May. Shared a bottle with a friend who is a big fan of Burial in Asheville, and the collaborative brewery. It was quite nice and am glad i have the second bottle.

Onto round 2, and am enjoying an IPL from Cerebral called Foeder Kingdom, who is apparently in Orlando for a festival at Tactical Brewing yesterday and brought a keg or two into town. Wanted a light quaffable beer for the NFL games today and it has delivered.

Nose is hoppy, very catty with some light fruit notes.

Taste is a very light malt base that displays hopping that gives notes of pear and apple, finishing with a gooseberry bitterness; 7/10 on my scale.

Mouthfeel is light bodied, smooth, and very refreshing.

Overall this is a really enjoyable IPL, the Southern Hemisphere hops pair very well with this lager!

it's a good one I drank 2 bottles already. Have one bottle left in the fridge. I would give it about a 4.34/5 it would be a good one to compare to this one:
    https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/53720/677688/
I have one can of Not Popular left in the fridge too. Kinda saving these two for a special occasion.
BA Dopplebocks are hard to brew it seems, it's too easy to get the barrel too strong it seems.
They also seem to be unpredictable for cellaring/aging.
