So. Three Floyds does very well with their BA program and this is no exception.
Poured stout black as expected, with a light brown head which left reasonable lacing.
Aroma lost on me, stupid Covid.
The taste was all stout with a pleasant dose of vanilla. Coffee and chocolate and vanilla. Quite good.
The feel is viscous and pleasant, an excellent dessert stout.
OA, it’s very good, and hopefully there are more at the bottle shop.

By All Means Brew Lab BA Barleywine, 13.2% ABV; 4.09 overall

Pours an effervescent mahogany with a pinky of tan head, falls away quickly, viscous

S: Figs, raisins, dark cherries, some barrel, some faint booze

T: Follows the nose, pretty dry, molasses notes & woody hops up front. Some plums sneak in as this beer warms up, along with figs, dark cherries, woody & leafy hops, a little treacle as well & the barrel opens up more giving raw oak & a subtle booze coating on the tongue. Finishes with oaky dryness, a kiss of Sour mash, figs, dark cherries & woody hops

MF: Fairly chewy, low carbonation, warming

Tasty solid take that is easy to drink despite the heft. It could easily pass as an English Barleywine

This is Stoneface Brewing from Newington, NH and their barleywine. This beer registers 11.9% on the label and I bought the bottle while stopping at the brewery on way home from a wedding weekend a few years ago.

    onto my review:
Sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle poured into my snifter. This is a 2022 vintage that I purchased at the brewery.
The beer pours a rich mahogany color and almost no head, although I finally get a dense beige foam of under .5cm with the end of an aggressive pour. This foam becomes an edge layer pretty quickly after the glass is sitting on the table.
The aroma is fairly sweet and malt driven. I get brown sugar and some raisin notes mixing with a little toffee. No hop character and the ABV seems pretty well hidden at this point.
First sip reveals a medium body with a smooth yet coating texture. Doesnt really feel sticky, although I expect it to with each sip, its a little bit of a weird combo, but also feels nice. Carbonation is very fine and fairly gentle on my palate. The physical traits actually make this an easier drinking beer than I anticipated.
Flavor is similar to the nose.
I get some rich toffee and brown sugar and then some toasted dark bread and raisins again. Here I do get some black peppery bitey booze and a little bit of warming on the swallow. The pepper bite is what lingers after each sip.
This beer isnt overly complex and doesnt have barrels or adjuncts. I find that it works quite well, very glad I picked this up when we visited the brewery.
    4.28 in the BA DB

Just to get in on the tail end of the weekend, here is Hanamachi Yuzu from Bottle Logic Brewing. Aroma is exactly like Seven-Up soda, with a squeeze of extra lemon. On the tongue it's sudsy and malty with a sharp finish. Flavors of lemon, grapes, honey, and pears with a cereal undertone like Cream of Wheat. I like a decent "unflavored" Rice Lager as well as anything, but we are so used to fruited-up pale wheat beers, why not? In this case the fruit is quite strong and with the sweetness it's quite a tasty concoction, but it's almost entirely unlike a Japanese Rice Lager. Good, though.

    Copperpoint - A-10 Red IPA

12oz can served in a tulip. Canned on 10/31/23. @Mr3dPHD sent it to me.

Pours a hazy mahogany with a smallish head, not much carbonation. Head turns into a thin skin of fine bubbles with a pile in the middle. Smell is citrus, pine resin, maybe a hint of toffee or nuts.

Taste is way toward the toffee and caramel sweetness, offset by the citrus and pine resin. Deep bitterness follows late in the taste.

Mouthfeel is thickish, in a satisfying way. I'm enjoying this beer a lot.
