One other thought on how to try a bunch of beers without breaking the bank is to attend a bottle share. Maybe post an inquiry in your regional thread asking about any open shares you could attend? There are often a handful of public ones in any given metro area, and someone might just invite you to a private one.

What do you think about Beer Drop? Are they good beers they send? Which 'level' did you use, 1-2-3 with 3 being the most expensive?

Trading is great, it really adds to the hobby and gets one more involved on the site.

I would just find good breweries in your area, go have a few pints, and chat about the staff about where they think you should go to buy more great beer.

I source beers by going to the liquor store.

    Aside from stuff already mentioned:
-If you're traveling for non-beer reasons, use BeerAdvocate's Places tab or some Googling to find good bars/shops/breweries there. I've managed to pick up some incredible beers without doing any travel specifically for beer. Buy some bottle protector sleeves for your luggage and check a bag on flights.
-Side Project's Stout Week is coming up in mid-February. They're a serious contender for best-in-world barrel-aged stouts, and St Louis has a ton of other great beer. Maybe a good candidate for starting with beer travel without having to go too far.
-Oznr is the go-to app for hype beer releases, including plenty from your local spots like Half Acre or Phase Three. These usually get announced in advance, mainly on Instagram.
-Find a local beer share group. Go to local BA stout events or release parties, or just talk to folks anytime you're at a bar. I met my local group just by talking to folks at bars, and it's been a great source of camaraderie and of access to tons of amazing beer I'd never be able to source on my own.

I would have rather received single cans than 2 of each, but they allowed (it's been 2 years since I've used them, so not sure if their policies are the same) you to change the suggested offerings, and over all I was a regular user for about 2 years and was satisfied with their service.

In France, I just ordered a case of Aecht Schlenkerla UrBock direct from the brewery via DHL. It came in a week's time in perfect condition.[IMG]

I have done a few trades in the past, but my tried-and-true way of getting my hands on beers I cannot get where I live is through travel. There's a lot of beer out there, and when you have a reason to travel, grab an extra suitcase and fill it up with both the sought out imperial stouts and regional pale ales. You will be surprise what you can get just by crossing state lines.
