    This thing drinks incredibly light. Reminds me of maybe a root beer tootsie pop? Before you get to the center. Something like that.

    Love the Kinks reference here, Pictures of Your Mama Taken By Your Papa from Grimm. No noise when I popped the cap and there was this weird grit at the top of the bottle.

    Unsurprisingly, this pours dead flat. Think Calista Flockhart drinking day old champagne in her London apartment. All kinds of flat.

    It smells intriguing, a nice combination of apple cider, toffee, vanilla, and fusel alcohol. I can't say I'm really digging the taste though, this is incredibly sweet. Really strong apple juice vibes dominate. There is also plenty of caramel and an aftertaste that is an odd mix of booze and charred oak. The mouthfeel is ok but some bubbles would have helped. Drinkable, a chore to finish though.

    Dystopias from Free Will. I guess technically a strong ale, but it's a barleywine to me! 20.1% ABV baby! Bottled still. This sample was from @sulldaddy and I still have a bottle from @DIM . I'm a lucky man! Cheers all.

    i don’t think this was intended to be a barleywine but it is now. honestly, not bad for a beer from 2017. cheers!!

    Fonta Flora Brewing (Nebo, NC) Birthdaywine 10 - an excellent English barleywine purchased during our Christmas time visit to Asheville. Very pleasantly rich and warm. Excellent after hockey beer!

    yeah, idk if it was because it was the end of the bottle and had some sediment or because i capped it and this was night 2 but it was dark.

    edit: could be the lighting too. the lighting in my office sucks!

    Even accounting for lighting in the photo and sediment, that beer still looks quite dark beyond all that. I would guess it was also a product of age.
