I had the King of Fools Stout at Elmhurst Brewery a few days ago.
It is their regular golden coffee stout that was aged in Driftless Glen bourbon barrels. Solid! It is also on tap at Pints in Elmhurst.

You can also buy it in a 750ml bottle.

Pollyanna is releasing a single barrel select version of BBA Imperial Toasted Marshmallow Fun Size:

Single Barrel Select Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Toasted Marshmallow Fun Size is now available for presale to our mug club members for pick up on Friday, 1/12/2024, at your home location! Limited to only 250 16oz cans, our brew team picked their favorite single barrel from this year's batch of Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Toasted Marshmallow Fun Size and deemed it critical to package it as a Single Barrel Select version. With more depth of flavor, richer chocolates, and more spirited bourbon than the rest of the barrels, you're not going to want to miss this one-time offering.

Was happy to grab a couple of cans of one of my favorites from them, bonus for members the cans are cheaper.

Take a free bus from Imperial Oak (Willow Springs) to Miskatonic (Darien) to Skeleton Key (Woodridge) to Black Horizon (Willowbrook) and enjoy a cold IPA. Saturday the 20th.
In celebration of this event, we’re thrilled to announce our quad-collab beer that will be available on tap that day! HOP FROST is a Cold IPA, combining the light-on-the-palate crispiness of a lager with the hop-forward profile of an IPA, brewed with Centennial, Simcoe and Sequoia hops. In addition to the HOP FROST base beer on tap, each brewery will have a fun and unique HOP FROST infusion to try during your visit. Complete the ride and try them all!
We know you’re going to want to stock your beer fridge, so take home a FREE SuBEERban Brewery Hop tote bag with your first purchase of packaged beer to-go, to help you get that beer home safe and sound. Show that bag at any of the other breweries during the event for an additional 10% discount on beers to-go! Tote bags available at each location, in limited quantities.

Nice blurb on WBEZ (NPR Chicago) about Marz brewing. Don't really see too much discussion about Marz on here. Used to avoid them because they charged way too much for a 4 pack of 12 ounce cans. Sometime last Summer the switched over to 16 once 4 packs and didn't raise their prices.

Marz was exciting when there weren’t as many options. Probably a nice local brewery for those who live in walking distance, but what leg do they have to stand on for anyone else? Not known for their barrel program (if they have one), hoppy beers, or traditional styles like lagers. Where does that leave them as masters of none?

Very fair assesment. I need to check out more of their brews. I discovered Marz at Maria's Packaged Good in Bridgeport (years ago), only to find out later that the founder of Marz is part owner of Maria's (His Mom owns the other half).

They release a unicorn of all beers - the ever elusive American Dark Wheat Ale on an annual basis. But I hear ya, nothing they do necessarily stands out or is sought after but most things they do are very solid and well made. Both of their taprooms are well-thought out spaces with lots of attention to detail that are fun to be in. More than I can say about some other Chicago breweries...sometimes masters of none is not a bad spot to be in

the quote is , ". . .In the greater Chicagoland area, there must be more than a hundred breweries. Some are notable. Many are not".
It reminds me of the closing from the Naked City TV show of 60+ years ago (via Wikipedia):
"There are eight million stories in the naked city. This has been one of them."

Looks to potentially be another GI 4pk release on the horizon. If so, I hope it falls in line with some of the recent ones like Husk and the 35th Anniversary Cuvee which were priced ~$20. Solid beers in a perfect package format (imo) at a great value. Keep these rolling, GI.

The previous 4pks have been sent into local distribution, correct? I would really like to score one.

Yes, correct. I think both were first available via GI Oznr but then were locally distro'd soon thereafter. Hope the same with this one.

Pollyanna releases their third Eisbock, Jotunheimr today. Past versions have been excellent and they said the yield was low this year, meaning high abv.
