Gratitude - rum barrel aged. Barleywine from East End. Comes in at 11.2% ABV. Huge thanks to Dan (@DIM) for this one!

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a nice reddish brown with a thin layer of head.

The nose is bread, slight pepper, caramel, rum, a touch of maple, and a very slight jolly rancher note.

The taste is fantastic. Wow - the rum really comes through here. I love rum, and I love how this all came together. Think toffee soaked in rum. A touch of honey, a floral note, and a woody bitterness at the end. A hint of vanilla emerges as it warms a bit. Lovely beer!

At Blue Herin Brewery, Bridezilla Gets Her Way, a 10% English style barleywine aged in Buffalo Trace barrels for eight months and served on nitro. Cheers.

Saw a post today from The Beer Temple's social media on receiving this collaboration between Põhjala and Weihenstephan. "A rich Wheatwine aged in Tawny, Ruby and White Port wine barrels." Not reviewed here yet.

    Anyone come across it yet?

2021 Straight Jacket. 15.8% ABV. The taste is intense. Boozy, but I feel like it has rounded off a bit around the edges. Smooth toffee, vanilla, figs, prunes, and bourbon. Fantastic.

I wanted something sweet after Indian tonight and this one sounds super interesting. Courtesy of @Beersnake I'm enjoying Never More from Ex Novo, a barrel aged black barleywine with whole cocoa beans & smoked figs.

Well this is interesting. Plenty of cocoa and caramel plus bourbon and a little honey up front. The figs come on in a big way towards the finish and I'm loving them. There is an oaky char with some lingering smoke to close things out. Overall this came together really well, thanks Tim!

decided on something a little lighter tonight and at just 11% this was my choice. while not much to look at very enjoyable. unique in the sense that it’s definitely not hoppy enough to be an american barleywine but also doesn’t have the malt backbone to be considered english either. stilll, pretty damn good.

Enjoying a nice American Barleywine from Mountains Walking in Bozeman, MT courtesy of a fall trade with @muchloveforhops3 . Thanks for the opportunity to try Doug!

Getting notes of brown sugar, dates, and prunes up front with maple, vanilla, and bourbon on the backend. Finishes slightly sweet but the barrel gives balance with a nice warming.
Overall a solid BA Barleywine that strikes me as more English than American.
    Cheers!

    My last one......
Back in the day, the Lagunitas bomber was $3.99 staple at the local stores, Imperial Stout, Cappuccino Stout, an IPA, The Hairy Eyeball, and lastly, but not leastly Olde Gnarlywine. It has been 7 years since I've had this, and its held up remarkably well.

....I would love to see this brought back as a seasonal release, 4x12, barrel aged maybe!

I like the old Rev can art so much more than the new skulls and death motif they've had for the last round of barrel aged releases

@Beersnake hauled this beast of a bottle all the back from Canada a few years ago and gave it a very high score. I'm honored that he saw fit to send such a cellaruary treasure my way. Cabin Brewing's second anniversary beer, a barleywine aged in Pedro Ximenez Sherry barrels. I think this is a little over 3 years old.

There is a lot of wonderful, softly sweet fruit notes at work here. Plums, grapes, cherries, and light pears. These are all the fruity kind of sweet, nothing sugary here. I also get toffee and a bit of peanut brittle. Some gentle warmth and faint vinous note blanket everything. This is a gem that my wife also unfortunately loved so I have to share. Thanks so much Tim!

probably my favorite beer i’ve had from wax wings and was one of the first beers i had from them. technically an old ale but barleywine-ish, with a lovely barrel presence. i dig what the cognac barrels provide here - touch of sweetness in contrast to the oak forward old ale. there’s also hints of chocolate and vanilla. really good. cheers!!
