Trying a collaboration beer from Tabol (Richmond) and Selvedge Brewing from Charlottesville. Hoping the collaborator hometown team can bounce back against Wake as I drink a Vollbier called Tabolcloth.


To be honest, I barely recognized the Selvedge name, and didn't know they were setting up shop in Charlottesville (if they keep their website fairly up to date, their taproom hasn't been open that long). This is a pretty dry, fairly light and bubbly brew with a bit of spicy bitterness.

I used that same protocol for twenty years. I mentioned that to my surgeon when I saw him last week at a school function. He said, "I know. I remember what it looked like in there."

 

A new one for me from Buxrton. A low ABV Session IPA, whatever that is! It's alright, no body but it tastes nice.

Everyone knows that hidden gem of a brewery that makes good beer but is overlooked for one reason or another. Georgia Beer Co. is one of those. It's location is the likely the thing. It's located 4 hours south of Atlanta in Valdosta, GA. They do a great job with most everything they make. Take this Amber Ale. Right on point. Malt forward. Spicy hop accents. Starts sweet, finishes dry. Any of you BA's ever find yourselves driving south on I-75 through South GA headed to Florida, please make a stop. I don't think you'll be disappointed. If they have a style of beer you like, it will be well done.

 

Just noticed the Craft Beer Channel glass. I like their youtube channel. Good stuff!

 

Celebration as I cook a steak for the first time in a cast iron pan. Clearly got the first side too done, second side looked better. Omaha steaks method had a one time flip half way through. Another, I think better method had a flip and baste every two minutes. I am super open to advice from experienced chefs!!!

Finished product with a Stone Ruination IPA......

Happy birthday @Reef!! I'm sure if the weather didn't suck you would get in a long bike ride. I can't wait to recover from my procedure and get back to cycling again. We have a 31 mile round trip trail, about 5 miles from our house, it only crosses 2 roads and has tunnels under 3 other ones, deer, turkey, foxes are all out there for the early birds. Have a great birthday!!
