They changed all their labels and their logo. Does anyone actually like the new style ?

Yeah, they look like a cheap seltzer brand now. But also, the old branding is VERY old fashioned.

yes. less busy; easier to tell what is what. I just wish they'd lean harder on the Sound of Music. I mean, "Doe A Beer"? the puns practically write themselves.

as long as the product inside and price point remain unchanged, i don't have a problem with it and will look for it, especially the pilsner, helles and kolsch.

rebranding is a necessary evil so that a product like beer doesn't appear stale.

agreed that it looks like a spiked seltzer product. the colors and gradients are more modernized.

they probably need to attract more millennials and zoomers to their product as opposed their regular consumer base of gen x and boomers.

the times, they are a changin.

I prefer the new logo and really like the new font, but I hate that they've gone away from the prominent style name. It was my favorite part of their branding: simply calling most of their beers by the style. No puns. No goofy names.

Before I got a close look at them I wanted to dismiss them. But I actually like them. Had no problem with previous can design though.

At least the style name is still on there. And like you, I love how they name their beers the style itself (i think Trosten is the only outlier?).

Good point. I haven't seen these in person yet. I had a similar experience with Jack's Abby's new branding. Looked meh in photos but quite nice on the cans. I do miss those awesome beasts on the S&D cans though.

To your very good point, I often wonder how beer companies are attracting younger folks. For every 20 something who may visit a brewery. I’m sure 90% are leaving empty handed and shop at the store for low cal seltzers or light beer. Many ended up their in groups and half probably would rather be at a bar. In a world driven by constant social media, fitness influencers, and huge marketing cash in seltzers, etc I can’t see how breweries bring them in. Kids are educated and go for the low cal shit now. Not to mention it’s hard to market a 13% imperial coconut and lard stout in a sexy way. A real hotel poolside sipper.

The Breweries just know to wait for them to couple up, breed and join the family brewery outing train after they give up. But then you still have to allocate the beer money with diapers and lack of sleep.

I say all of this in good fun. But I’m not off

Maybe I'd feel differently if I was a vermonter or something, but I don't consider this a crime on the scale of, say the Anchor or even Sam Adams rebrands. I would not say the old Von Trapp designs were particularly iconic to me.

The Sam rebrands were interesting. Having worked there and hearing about it made it even more interesting. Even funnier is how they had to change old Sam’s smile on the old labels because they felt he was too brooding and it put out a negative feeling. I do miss the old labels.

Old Fezziwig rebrand was a crime. I believe Holliday Porter may have been the OG label last time it was in the pack.

Same here. I didn’t like the new designs when I saw them online, but they weren’t as bad when I saw them in person.

And like others said, as long as the beer doesn’t change, I’ll keep drinking it. One of my favorite breweries out there and their Pils is one of the best year-round made in the US.

Green flash label rebrand about 8 years ago was hot garbage. People lit that one up.

Sam should return to the original label design. I feel it would really stand out. I recall Miller Lite sales getting a boost when they went back to the original label.

    Really?

This was their last social media post with the older branding:

And here were some of the ones of the same beer that followed:

... yeah, the old can takes up more photo real estate in that first image, but even considering that it's still clearly easier to identify

I think the labels are clean and aesthetically neat and not crowded. But for me, the color choices cheapen it. Which I’m sure is exactly why they are like that. I assume I’m not the rebrand intended audience to capture. And I can imagine in a world of ipa and more modern aesthetics and brewery styles it’s a fine line to walk being authentic vs modern.

I don't mind the new labels, I think the simple design looks quite nice, but I do wish the beer name was a bit more prominent as it was on the old labels
