1) Drekker Metaphase (8.2% canned 1/16/24): A NEIPA from North Dakota with Citra & Nelson Sauvin for flavors of lemon and orange citrus, green citrus and juicy pine.
versus
2) Phase 3 Black Bouquet (8.0% canned 12/28/23): A NEIPA from Chicago with Mosaic, Strata, Idaho 7, and Talus for flavors of lime, guava, green grape, melon, and floral notes. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
2) Phase Three Black Bouquet: NEIPA Battle. Drekker Nelson vs Phase Three Idaho 7 and Talus. First is Drekker Metaphase. Haven't had this one since last year. Citra and Nelson can be a great combo. Really dials in here with strong Citra, green citrus and juicy pine. It's bright and the flavors pop.
Next is Phase Three and BlackStack Black Bouquet. Great hop combo of Idaho and Talus. Very similar flavors actually with slightly more green and floral notes from the Talus. Metaphase is more citrusy, but Black Bouquet is more floral. Quite surprised and impressed with Drekker Metaphase here. Far better than I remember and it comes together extremely well. This could be one of their best.

 

This is a so so Czech Dark Lager.

Nice day, chest and back workout done, so I went for a ride. First of the year and first since hip replacement surgery. A little tentative at first, but everything went good and it felt great to be back on the bike.

Reveries Of… HBC 586. Single Hop IPA from Factory Brewing (Finland).
Supermarket beer here, but with a Scandinavian price tag at around 7 $/Є ... Good beer, but I will not buy this again (I think) for this insane price

Wow, that really sucks - what's your plans after this - are they going to rebuild?

 

It's always fascinating to me how the brewers can bring out different characteristics with the same hops. I'm drinking a pilsner by Halfway Crooks Beer here in GA made with Nelson and Motueka hops. Those two hops compliment each other nicely without one outshining the other. I get a subtle but distinguished combo of citrusy lime, white grapes and berry-like notes.

Halfway Crooks Beer One Zero.
German style pilsner made with Hallertau Mittelfruh and Hersbrucker hops.

Spot on German Pils. Just the right amount of bitterness too. Spicy and herbal. Dry finish. Well crafted.

It's a real education drinking this and the Linus side by side. Really helps to isolate the hops combos. The look like the same beer visually but deliver different experiences. Literally, a traditional pils (One Zero) vs a new world pils (Linus).

 

Reminds me of the 10 feet of snow the Sierra's are getting hit with right now.

Wow! At least no one was injured. Looks like a major rebuild is coming. Any backup plans for working in the meantime?

 

I haven’t had this beer much, especially fresh, but it is definitely among my favorite WC IPAs of all time. Special thanks to @Blogjackets for this Ohio beauty and many other amazing beers! Head Hunter, canned 2/9. Yes, please! Have a great Saturday, BAs!
