Lashing out at the entire world as responsible for whatever trauma she's endured is one thing, but this almost strikes me as an irrationally drunk and immature episode the likes of which I myself have been prone to from time to time.

Either way, whatever floats your boat, but if I'm a business owner don't try to drag me down with you. If you are going to stick to your convictions on this, how can you even begin to know the behavior of all the employees and owners of all the businesses, farms and manufacturers of every single product you utilize in your business throughout all of their long or short histories?

 

It doesn’t seem irrational to me at all. Brienne made her mind up on the issue based on own personal experience with Shaun and others who have communicated to her. As a business owner that does business with other business owners, there is nothing wrong with her communicating that stance on who she does business with, and who she wouldn’t do business with.

 

Absolutely, I do not disagree there.

In maine you have to go through a wholesaler so it is not like she gets to choose to not do business with someone, and she isnt doing business with hill farmstead so now the impetus is on the shop or bar owner. If a person owns a biz and decides to sell both beers they should not be pressured or intimidated into making a decision between what they put on their shelves. If their customers like both they should sell both. That said, people should listen to her and not sell the sacred profane beer if they want to sell hill farmstead. most folks do not even know about all of this stuff anyway and probably do not care. the problem is that she has dragged well meaning business owners in the past for not being up on whats going on and that is not right imo.

 

Based on everything we know that has been alleged, particularly in regards to Hill--which is as close to a meaningless nothingburger as you can get in any industry, but especially the food and beverage industry--her behavior is as irrational as it gets in my book.

And the very last thing she is doing here is simply "communicating that stance on who she does business with." She is aggressively and belligerently coming up to the line of threatening other businesses without fully committing to it.

Do as I say, not as I do...well, as long as it isn't in regards to anything sex related.

 

I dont know, as people here on this board are almost uniformly men, that it is so easy for a woman in an industry like this to be as unbothered as you're saying she SHOULD be seems a tad unfair. HF is not just beer but an image Shaun has cultivated well. Maybe he's a big time frat bro type which seems prevalent in the industry, I don't know, but he's not starving and bars that get hill regularly are likely fairly successful, so everyone can put their big boy/ girl pants on and manage as they feel appropriate without hand wringing.

 

really its just a silly move for any business owner to say "dont sell my product" lol but sure i hope a bunch of people take her at her word. i am sure the taproom is doing just fine without the retail sales.

 

She has no frame of reference to ever feign to even know his personality. Her entire platform is built on blasting him based on something she heard someone else say he said about her. That's it. That's the entire bit. She blew up by using Hill's name. Period.

Plenty of the stories she posted were legit and concerning, many of which resulted in definitive action and change. Hill's was not one of them, in any regard, and I'm sick and tired of people like you acting like it was.

 

This is just factually untrue, man. I love Hill Farmstead. I think Shaun Hill is incredible at what he does, has only ever been kind in my handful of experiences talking to him, and has done more for his community in 12 years than most could hope to in a lifetime. But he showed up in the stories multiple times. Acting like Brienne is some witch for grinding an axe about him talking shit about wanting to hook up with her is not an accurate representation of the situation.

I’m not saying it to be an asshole or fight with you, or imply SH should be canceled or is a bad guy, but when you reduce the truth to your version of it it’s perpetuating the shitty beer industry dynamics she was trying to speak out against in the first place. (Not to mention the platform would have been just as big with no mention of HF at all - you said it yourself, there was a lot there and a lot of change happened as a result of it.)

 

I’m also due for a drive up and my VW Golf, even with snow tires, isn’t exactly made for that road when it’s muddy.

 

I think part of the problem here is when the people who are calling out bad behavior also engage in it. Perhaps a venue can be found for people with legitimate grievances to share them. I think there is frustration with folks who are in direct contact and have witnessed some less than stellar actions on her part over the years. The above post she did is another example of this.

He showed up in Instagram stories a couple times for being unsociable. Give me a fucking break. No one, not a single fucking actual human being, let alone real journalist, has ever tracked down anyone that has made any of these accusations. And why would they? Because they're not just hearsay, but juvenile as all fuck and totally disconnected from any kind of real world sexual harassment implications any rational thinking human being could conjure up.

I don't have a personal relationship with him. I've been around him maybe five times in my life, and every single time his head was always down and he was always working or trying to avoid conversation because he's a fucking introvert. A frat boy? The literal exact opposite.

Have you ever sat at a bar in anywhere USA for longer than 39 minutes in your entire life? You'll hear ten times worse than anything he's ever been remotely accused of five times throughout a single night. One night!

Ratmagnet, and by association you, are acting like someone was near death here by his actions, and it's absurd. I will die on the hill that Hill was used for the sole purpose of bringing awareness to this social media blitz. I'm glad some of the accusations that she shared were pursued and addressed, but none of those had anything to do with her. She just used his name to bring greater awareness to things that already would have been taken care of at any business of decent standing, INCLUDING Hill Farmstead.

 

I don’t understand what you are saying here. The whole issue was Brienne sharing what people had sent to her based on a prompt of what women have had to deal with in the beer industry. That’s it, nothing more. Hill came up naturally based on the stories people had to share about Shaun. Many of them are not even really ‘sexual harassment’ but just stories about bad behavior on his part.

It’s ok, he doesn’t need you to defend him for being an asshole, I am sure he is ok with his behavior. Just as it ok behavior for Brienne to disconnect her business from other business’ that work with Hill Farmstead. Free market baby.

 

She is allowed to tell people to go fuck themselves, this is America.
