New to me brewery, still on my "damn it I miss Lagunitas Imperial Red" kick... Ilk's Spare Time in Bodega Bay.

16oz can served in a snulip. Can is apparently dated December sometime, but I can't read the whole date. Bought it yesterday, I think at Full Throttle Bottles.

Pours clear dark amber, with some nutty/syrupy coloring. Head on the pour was about a finger, thick, dense, creamy. Settles slowly into a thick skin with a drifting pile, tight lacing. Smell is citrusy / grapefruity and pine resin hops, candied orange peel sweetness, a hint of toffee.

Taste is more on the WC IPA side, leaning toward the pine and grapefruit zest, but with a stronger and brighter malt backbone. Long bitter aftertaste. Occasional burst of bubble gum.

Mouthfeel is medium, dry, clean. Overall, this is really tasty.

Can looks familiar, but I don't have any record of buying it or sending it to you (doesn't mean I didn't, I'm not that good at record keeping). I do know it would be pretty weird for me to buy that beer with that date on it if I saw the date. Sounds like you enjoyed it either way! :beers:

Finally one last other for the weekend.

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass. Canned February 15th 2024.

Turbid yellow, hinting a little towards custard but very light in color. Lemon bright with some noticeable fast rising carbonation rising to a real creamy four finger topped bright white head.

Big hop aroma, mostly touching dank earthy tones, with a nice sweetness for balance. Little touch of dill and brine hinting as well in the background which is quite pleasant.

Palate is pretty solid. Simple malt backbone giving just a little touch of sweetness. Juicy earthy touches of leafy and dank herb flavors, hits a little chalky, but also with a controlled amount of sugars. The diversity from the nose is missing a little which is a slight let down. However, the base flavors provide a solid drinking experience.

Overall comes out a bit basic, but solid. And for that reason I certainly cant complain much.

    look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4 | 4.06/5

    Cheers!

Here's Gigaton DIPA from Three Weavers somewhere in southern California.
Clear yellow amber brew with long-lasting foam and a pleasant aroma of pineapple and citrus. Supersweet and candy tasting, but some bitterness in the aftertaste. Flavors of orange and lemon peel with a hint of grapefruit. The sugar sticks around as long as the hops, however. Interesting only if you need the sugar to suck down the alcohol.

Day 2, tipping my glass to our friend @Victory_Sabre1973 and his friend Tim. My condolences for your loss - that was heartbreaking to read.

My beer is another chile/pepper beer from Tree House, and I’m hopeful I’ll enjoy this one more that yesterday’s offering.

Pours a very hazy golden mango color with a creamy white head that grips the glass with a cast iron grip the entire journey through this beer. Gorgeous hazy.

The first notable aroma from the can is an earthy, herbal note with hints of pepper, courtesy of the habanero peppers, followed of course by a substantial mango note that carries some peach as well. Very nice.

The taste features that earthy note that is more of a pepper flavor (as in coarse black pepper) on the palate, with lots of peach and mango flavors for balance and a very nice warming at the back of the palate that lets you know you’re drinking a beer prepared with habanero peppers. Delicious.

The mouthfeel is medium and works well with all that’s going on with this beer. This could’ve been a “hot mess” (pun intended), but Tree House did an excellent job with this beer and style, IMHO.

    Society & Solitude #8
8% New England IPA by Hill Farmstead

Poured from a pint can, the body is an apricot color with nice foamy head. Excellent lacing.

Nose is a delicious peach, mango and earthy hop.

Taste mostly follows nose and adds a pleasant dankness (simcoe?) with just a touch of bitterness on the back end. Satisfying movement from fruit to dank to fading bitter to soft finish.

Mouthfeel is very good and carbonation solid. Very soft.

Another great IPA by Hill Farmstead.

Hey, we know talent when we see it! Not sure if it applies to you, but I found that this amazing nucleated glass from @Jasonja1474 does some nice things for beer head……sounds “wrong” but…it does.

    Varietal - TPK 3IPA

16oz can served in a footed pilsner glass. Not sure, but I think the can is dated 01/25/24.

Pours clear golden light amber, nice tall head, dense, slow to fade, plenty of active carbonation. Smell is screaming bright citrus and orange blossom notes.

Taste is boozy, sweet honey and floral malts all over the place, orange zest and pine resin bitterness is clawing at the corners and will eventually invade and overwhelm. But wow, that booziness. Having trouble deciding if I like it or if it's too much -- very borderline, and I suspect I'm more tolerant of booziness than most.

Mouthfeel is dangerously light, smooth, and clean. Overall, this is a very nice beer, dangerous with the light feeling; only the boozy flavor gives a strong warning about the deep waters ahead.

    “Time, place, people”

    Dated 12.13.23

Poured into a stemless wine glass, results in a frothy, three finger, white foam cap that recedes to a ringed layer over a orange citrus haze of a liquid

    Aroma is orange citrus, tangerine

Mouth is smooth, soft velvety, low carb , hop kiss on the finish

    Good beer

11.2 oz bottle into a pokal.
L: SRM 3 Pours clear medium-light gold with even & steady carbonation bubbles, a slightly frothy 1/2" eggshell white head that has good retention, medium lacing with very good banding.
S: Caramel malts, a gentle hop note, a dash of pastry dough, lightly floral.
T: Lightly sweet malts, a light hop burst, very distant dried fruits, light grains in the aftertaste. It is gently sweet overall.
F: Lightly brisk then a smooth medium-light bodied feel that has a medium-length lightly drying finish.
O: Very easy to drink, gently sweet, light feel and is smooth. Would pair well with seafood. It is good in its style.

    Good evening NBW
I've been focused on clearing my cellar / overstock while simultaneously drinking less, so way fewer new beers lately. I did not pass on the chance to grab a $7 six pack of AAL at Aldi last week, so here's what you get.
Cerveza Covista Mexican Style Lager (Rock Wall Brewing Company - which is actually produced by Genesee in New York)

12oz undated twist off brown bottle poured into a shaker pint at fridge temp 4.5% ABV. The beer pours bright light amber with steady carbonation bubbling up and off white head. The head recedes to a pencil thin ring and island, but hangs in much longer than most macros. The aroma is mild with clean cereal grain. The taste is more straight forward corn and pale malt with a hint of sulfur and diacetyl. Minimal bitterness. The mouthfeel is thin bodied with above average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, an affordable and tasty alternative to Corona & Modelo with no pesky clear glass bottles...
I did chuck a lime slice in with my last half a glass and it reacts the same as any "Mexican style" I've had in that combo. Adds some brightness and smoothes out any little defects. Good AAL.

    Cheers all!

    Backmasking
    8% stout by Three Floyds

Poured from a 12 ounce scan, body pours a dark black body with a mocha colored. Excellent lacing.

Aroma is malty char and chocolate.

Taste follows nose with up front cocoa/chocolate flavor, but added farther in the background are berry notes along with a light bitterness and hop flavor. It might sound like a dog’s breakfast, but the elements pull together to create an interesting stout.

Carbonation is medium with a soft but substantial mouthfeel. No sign of ABV.

Enjoyable stout that I'd love to try on tap.

Good evening NBS! I have a beer that @PapaGoose03 alerted me to:
So Tom alerted me to the existence of these and I went down to Kalamazoo as soon as possible to acquire some.
Well worth the trip - the pour was stout black with a briefly lived light brown head.
Still no aroma for me, stupid Covid.
The taste is coffee forward, bourbon wrapped, mellow Expedition Stout. As in no char or other edges. For my tastes, that's near perfection. That said, I can't help but think if Larry were still in charge it would have a bit of edge to it. No sign of the > 13% alcohol; very easy drinking.
The feel has a nice viscosity to it, the only reminder that I should be sipping this.
    OA, Wow, seriously good variant.
