Agreed. Just cracked my first last night. Fantastic. JA rarely misses.

 

I think Wooly Pig in Fresno makes the best lagers in Ohio. They don’t distribute, but it’s worth the three-hour round trip from CLE. I head down four/five times a year. If you’re in the area, stop by McKenna’s Farm Market on the way and grab a Beef & Beef sub while visiting.

I don't buy many lagers, except for when I go fishing. I thought this was pretty solid brew, with some interesting flavors.

....in the DB, this is listed as an ale....just sayin'....

At the moment it has a BA score of 88 (very good).

I suppose it is just a matter of time when BAs who object to AAL beers review it and knock down the score!?!

Ottakringer Vienna Lager is always on the shelves where I buy beer, so why not the best?

Bierkeller is holding a Bock beer fest this weekend with their Helles Bock and new Weizenbock on tap.

 

Red Oak Battlefield Bock. Red Oak consistently puts out some very nice lagers!

 

Ha, saw plenty of Ottakringer when I went to Vienna this summer, but never their Vienna. Go figure.

They’re in good company! Notch is holding their Starkbierfest this weekend.

Every March in Munich, Starkbierfest (Strong Beer Fest) is celebrated with Bockbier, and Notch falls right in line with our own winter festival. Seasonal bock bier, Bavarian fare, and the Tuba Frau Hofbräu Band will set the tone for this much anticipated annual event. But what everyone really wants is a HOT POKE! As is tradition, a super heated steel rod is submerged in your bock bier to create a marshmallow type foam, but the beer stays cold. A perfect and entirely different cold weather treat.
