Hey guys, I was wondering if I could find out the name of a certain beer my dad was telling me about the other day. He believed it to be from Germany, he thought it was made at a monastery, it was a raspberry flavor beer, and it came in a stone bottle. Sorry that I don't have any more information, but I would really like to find some for him if possible and Google has yielded zero results for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I’m a bit lost like the OP in his research. Will ask @Snowcrash000 maybe if it’s a beer originally from Germany in collab (?) with Stone.

RRSniper are you talking about a Stone Brewing bottle or a ceramic stoneware bottle?

I bet Delirium Red is the answer. One other guess: there is a German raspberry spirit called Himbeergeist that sometimes comes in ceramic bottles. That has “beer” right in the name!

It wouldn't taste anything like beer though, that stuff clocks in at 40% ABV :stuck_out_tongue:.

He doesn't believe the Delirium Red or Himbeergeist is what he was thinking of. He did note that maybe the design has changed since he last had it though, so the Delirium is still a possibility.

[IMG] He said the bottle looked just like a regular beer bottle but maybe a bit thicker and stoneware. This is a 750 of course, but he said this was the style of bottle. I'm not sure if that helps much, but I appreciate all the help I have received so far! It very well could have been an older version of Delirium Red.

Is this something he had a couple weeks ago, or while he was stationed in Germany back in the 70s?

I believe he had it while he lived in Mobile, AL, which would've been 2008-2021 or so.

Was it a bottle like this? Because these are really not being commonly used at all anymore, at least not for beer. As mentioned before they are more common for spirits, but still pretty rare.

Eliminating some other options, Lindemans Framboise is one of the most commonly-available raspberry beers. It’s Belgian, not German, and I’m not aware of it coming in stoneware.

Kuhnemann Raspberry Eisbock is a well-regarded (and harder to find) German-sounding beer with raspberries. But again, I don’t think it comes in stoneware.

La Guillotine doesn’t have a raspberry version, does it? That’s a Belgian Pale Ale that comes in ceramic bottles.

I don't believe so. I think what I am going to do is buy some Delirium Red based off the responses I have received so far and I'll post an update next time I get home and let you all know if that was it.

That's the one I immediately thought of. Straight-up cherry cough syrup in a stoneware bottle.
Just like revenge, best when served cold.

Mobile, AL has absolutely shit beer selection now, not to mention as early as 2008. Try the Lindeman Frambois. That’s a very good guess mentioned above. And, it would certainly be available there, seem German like in name, and certainly remind him of raspberries.

It could have been a limited release of a specialty brew to mark an occasion. Most likely from Belgium or maybe the Netherlands or even France. I just don't see any brewer in Germany brewing hopped raspberries unless he had this within the last 10-15 years. And if it was recent, it was a craft beer for sure...probably a small batch brewer. The stone bottle sounds pretty cool though. Would love to add something like that to my collection, even though I probably wouldn't drink the beer. Raspberry beer doesn't even sound nice to me.
