Or just self identify as a Secretary of State and 'interpret' the Constitution to suit your dogma?

 Yeah, but which country(ies) prohibit people of legal age from buying "whichever beer" - available on the shelves at retail licensed locations - they want for whatever reason? I'm guessing that even in those Muslim countries which prohibit alcohol and only allow non-alcoholic beer, they can still buy Heineken 0.0 or Bitburger Drive or Bud Zero - it's up to them (maybe influenced by their Iman's BA reviews).

Yeah, that Section 2 can be troublesome, always use the abridged version which stops at Section 1.

The idea of Budweiser being marketed to fratty beer swilling goons is appealing to me because that’s my demographic. To each his own

I know, I’m sorry. I was merely making a poorly worded logical fallacy. It won’t happen again

Remember the Su....er...Big Game  commercial , with a thinly-veil trashing of their own recently-acquired Elysian ? (Seemed to me, to preventively shame their Bud customers from trying anything else.) Their marketing already has a history of shi**ing on their own customers.
I take more umbrage at the repeated attempts to strong-arm retailers into squeezing everybody else out of shelf space.

I always suspected that was happening when most of the new beers we were getting were AB-InBev acquisitions (e.g. Golden Road, Elysian, Wicked Weed, Karbach...)

The gay and drag friendly brewpub I was a head brewer at was an Aubie home bar. Just because they are gay, and love drag. Don't mean dilly. They love their ball sport too.

I have nothing to add to the excellent points raised by @thebeers, @Providence, @HoppingMadMonk, @John_M, et al. but I do want to explore this concept of brand loyalty. Maybe I take marketing/advertising less seriously than other folks but are people seriously offended if a company or brand makes changes to its marketing to appeal to a different demographic? Maybe I’m fooling myself but I like to think I make most of my purchases based on a combination of value for money, quality, whether the company appears to align with my values (clothes made in the USA or at least not in sweat shops etc.), other factors like that. I don’t think I actually give two shits if the company seems to be marketing to my age/income/social bracket or what have you. And I wonder if other people are really conscious of this and make actual purchasing decisions based on it.

[IMG] I agree with you,I buy what I want for the reasons I choose.usually value and I desire the product for whatever reasons.
Now I've had a crush on Cindy Crawford for sometime now but if she came out with a 4 pack for 38 dollars the romance will be over.
It must work though because these BS ads and commercials never change

Right, I’m not saying I’m immune to subconscious influence—I guess I just don’t think that what I buy = who I am. So if a brand changes its marketing to appeal to a different group (1) I doubt I’d even notice and (2) if I did I doubt I’d feel personally slighted.

I don't make purchasing decisions based on whether a company is marketing to a demographic I am a part of or not, but I will absolutely stop buying products made by a company if they support political or moral positions with which I vehemently disagree. I definitely am not perfect with this and in no way am I saying every company from which I purchase products have morals and values that align with mine (far from it). But I am trying and doing better and better each year and I think the effort matters. I also recognize that I have the means to engage in such in act, which many do not. I would also go out of my way to support a business if they upheld or reflected political or moral positions with which I agreed.

100%. The difficulty I have with this is being able to sift through all the BS and misinformation to know what is true. For example, I’ve heard for years that Domino’s Pizza and Chick-fil-A support causes I oppose—but (1) I don’t know how much truth there is to these claims (or if they’re just urban legends) and (2) I wouldn’t eat there anyway. So it’s kind of a non-issue in those cases. But if there were a brand I buy about which similar claims were made, I think they generally do a pretty good job of obscuring that information and making it hard to verify it. Most companies want to appeal to as broad a customer base as possible and don’t necessarily promote particularly controversial positions they might align with.

Pretty much any brewery that can pay for TV commercials isn't something that I want to drink. Even when I'm drinking macro, it's PBR, Stroh's, or High Life.

Should probably just bar this topic from discussion in general. Nothing about bud light or its advertising choices "respects beer"

Mad is an emotion and I don't get emotional about beer. My primary reasons for drinking and posting about Bud were due to a medical condition which restricted my driving and availability of the product about a mile and a half from my house. I now have a driver who will cheerfully haul me to and my beer purchases from any store in a 100+ mile radius. I now have access to a variety of brews as evidenced by my recent posts.

No Bud though as I was put off by their marketing team's puny excuses for a public disregard toward their loyal customer base.

Is Bud your favorite or one of your favorites? I know plenty of Bud drinkers and have nothing against them, but I think they would find even the idea of this website strange. To them, beer isn’t something you talk about, it’s just something to drink so that you don’t get bored with 10 hours of football on the weekends.

I agree with your post for the most part. My split with the Brand came when I saw an interview with the then Marketing Director who when describing the loyal Bud customers actually mentioned "frat boys" and made some other remarks about us which I thought were less than flattering. I sensed an elitist attitude toward the base as if we were a bunch of Lemmings who would sheepishly continue buying the Brand without giving the purchase a thought.

Don't diss me and expect my continuing support. I have a low tolerance level for those who pee on my shoes while telling me it's raining.

You’re obviously entitled to spend your money however you choose for whatever reasons you want. But to stop buying a product because of one statement by one (former) employee strikes me as a little extreme. Maybe that attitude represents how most AB employees feel about their customers, and maybe it doesn’t. But if you believe for one second that there aren’t people working for every company on earth who don’t sometimes have negative thoughts or words about their customers and clients then I’m afraid you are sadly mistaken. That is an impossible standard.
