What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #4161

Was just thinking about getting into this for fresh ground meat. Not a big fan of pre packaged "ground beef" anymore. Tis like dog food.

This shot and beer goes out to my wife, who celebrated her 40th year as a Lockheed Martin test technician today! She's the only female labor grade 10 (the highest, requires passing a national electronics test)) tech in Ocala. She's tested and troubleshot tens of thousands of Hellfire and Longbow missiles as well as numerous night vision systems for Apache AH-64, F14, F15, F16 & F18. She's 2 years from retirement age but I've told her she can go any day. His and hers, with Patron shots!

 

1) Bent Paddle Black (6.0%): A Porter from Minnesota that has flavors of roasty coffee, oats, and a dry chocolate finish.
versus
2) Founders Porter (6.5%): A Porter from Michigan with flavors of chocolate, lactose, mocha, and a smooth finish. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Winner:
2) Founders Porter: Porter Battle. First is Bent Paddle. Fantastic dark malt, cocoa, chocola, and mild roasted flavors. Balanced and complex.
Next is Founders Porter..Very similar flavor profile, but a slighty more rich and creamy body. I think Founders is getting the win here. One of the best Porters I'd had.

 

And you have no idea what store bought ground meat has in it.....which is virtually every beef scrap. No grade unless noted so could be all select which means no flavor.
It's worth buying just for that and making sausages. I've made Italian, andoulille and beer brats.

Cheers to your wife. That quite an amazing list of duties/accomplishments!

 

The typical available blend is short rib, brisket and sirloin which is a great blend. I just purchased this because it's so well marbled and will make a great burger. But hell yeah depending on what you like do anything. Of course you want some fat too.

One of my fave records from the mid-90's, paired with a fave beer from the mid-20's. Lost Time Kellerbier from Blue Jacket.
