What Beer Are You Drinking Now? #4166

Good morning BAs and Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Starting this glorious morning with a Guinness Foreign Extra Stout:



Bitter roasted barley deliciousness.

Today is laundry and work on taxes day for me - yippee! I may drink some beers - Cheers and have a superabundant Sunday y’all!

 

Graduate of Saint Patrick High School, one of the oldest high schools still in existence (opened 1861) in Chicago. My maternal Great Grandmother was born within a few blocks of Saint James Gate. The high school closed and moved during the creation of I-90 / "The Kennedy Expressway" in the 1950s to it's current location on Belmont just east of Austin. The Parish on Deplaines and Adams built in 1854 remains and is best known for the annual singles block party gathering.

Not one for crowds for the parade a block from my house or the Taverns today on the first of three annual amateur nights (Day Before Thanksgiving and New Years Eve the other two), and likely won't go beyond this 22 oz strong BA stout out of the PNW today.

Fremont Brewing 2023 B-Bomb (Bourbon Abominable Winter Ale)



Full take in the New Beer Sunday #995 thread. Long story short, the Coffee Cinnamon version was best in show for my tastes at FOBAB 2019, but 4 1/2 years later, this beer is sweet, with sweet bourbon, so not sure if that particular variant was that much better, or more likely my palate and preferences have evolved overtime. Never the less, I will be ready to go back to sleep with the steep 14.7% ABV which didn't hit me until the half way mark.

My first recollections beyond our trip to Cody and Yellowstone was George Michael's Sports Machine back in the day including rodeo's out of Casper, Wyoming, which I sadly could not find, just this clip out of Cheyanne, Wyoming, one of the few United States Capitol cities I haven't seen in person.




Second clip goes out to @Squire , who I believe lives near Jackson, though I will dedicate this Northern Irish Tune for the Mississippi town of Tupelo to the North and East.

Cool you were a Don back in the day, but why do you hate Van Morrison? Hopefully not for sectarian reasons.

I selected him purposefully, as I felt out of place in the bars like Chief O'Neills (O'Neill ironically my Grandmother's maternal maiden name) featured sectarian songs, and embrace both my Catholic and Protestant (and Russian Orthodox on my maternal Grandfather's side) heritage on Saint Patrick's Day, and the other 365 days of this The Lord's 2024 Leap Year.

I guess cause his music sucks, but the stories I’ve heard about him make him sound like he’s just a general all around asshat. Politics is just a small piece in the whole picture.
