    Revisited March 18th, 2024

Incredibly clear, dark honey colored body; decent carbonation; thick, lasting, frothy head, white. Deep, rich toasted grain and malt notes; caramel. The flavor retains its malt-forward character; heavy but not cloying sweetness with just the right touch of subtle hop bitterness. The body seems a bit richer and fuller, more inline with the style.

It is a mystery to me as to what happened with the looks of my first can of this beer. The difference could not be more stark. This sample certainly has the eye appeal. I'll see what the other two cans do for me. As it is, this episode earned higher ratings for the 'Look' and 'Feel' categories.

Dull, murky body; pours a somewhat cloudy amber hue, opaque in the glass; gorgeously thick head, dense and creamy, very rocky in appearance. Bold malt sweetness on the nose; somewhat nut-like; roasted grain. Fairly bold malt flavor; dull, earthy caramel notes; toffee; fairly mild sense of bitterness. Medium-light body; soft and lightly velvety.

The murky body is a bit of a head scratcher, yet the head is pretty stellar. The aroma and taste definitely complement and reinforce each other with a distinctly malt-forward character. The beer may look screwy, but it certainly drinks like a champ.

    ABV: 4.1%; pouring temperature: 53 °F; canning info: n/a

(late note) - appearance mystery solved - I think this is an unfiltered beer. My first can was opened soon after transporting it from the beer shop to my home, so it was fairly well shaken up in that time. This evening, this second can had been sitting in a refrigerator for over a week. As I poured the remaining beer into my glass, the clarity became cloudy from the trub and beer yeast sitting in the can. Same great smell and taste, but the appearance and, to a smaller extent, mouthfeel did change, becoming more inline with my first review experiences.

Big bold flavors of malt and hops, much bigger than the color and scent imply. Malt is full bodied without being overly sweet and hops are simply there without pretense or excuse. Taste really good as well.

What else can I say, this is a big shoulder bruiser of a beer and I like it a lot.

Another Swami's at Club Raul. I played this for the pre-Emo crowd and it confused them. Needless to say, drinks are still pouring. Cheers!

A bit more grapefruit note with this one, but more dry rather than bitter aftertaste. Strange name though; not all that metro-loving personally.

The distinct pickguard and bridge gave it away. You are totally right with the guitar comparison: A better sounding guitar is inspiring to play, brings out the best in your playing, and entices you to pick it up time and time again - that's really awesome! I have one guitar in particular that feels like a wrestling match every time I play it. I should probably sell it but can't bring myself to let it go, it's a '99 Ovation Collector's Edition with a Waterfall Bubinga top. U.S. made and looks amazing. Unplugged, it sounds really meh, it also has a 1/4 inch jack and an XLR which is unusual. The 1/4 inch is sterile sounding but the XLR breathes and sounds pretty incredible. The action is right where it should be, no buzzing anywhere, but is harder than heck to play. I have the same strings on my Martin SPD-16R and the guitar practically plays itself. It's by no means one of the higher end Martins but it totally speaks to me because it feels and sounds great, and really, that's all that matters. I have a Baby Taylor that's logged a few miles over the years and it's overdue for a set-up. That beautiful Taylor of yours would bring a huge smile to @jvgoor's face, they're great guitars!

Sorry for nerding out but loved that picture! :heavymetal::nerd::beers: !!

Can't help but to notice the Women's NCAA discussion in the background. I saw that our Lady Hoosiers were placed in the same bracket as South Carolina. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
