Southern Prohibition Suzy B Blonde Ale



Hazy (intentionally so) light yellow color with good white cap and lacing.

Aroma of citrusy hops, something like grapefruit but not so strong and just a hint of malt.

Flavor on entry is mildly hoppy, more of a lemon zest tone to it, oddly the hop taste is less intense than the aroma and seems to be a different fruit. It's not disjointing, actually rather pleasant, just noticeable that it smells of one yet tastes of the other. Malt joins in mid palate and rides to the end, but hops stay on top of things and linger in the aftertaste.

Medium texture which is surprising considering the overall lightness of the brew, perhaps that's malt shining through, with balancing carbonation.

The brewer says this unfiltered full flavored ale has a honey malt background with balanced hop bitterness. I suggest a little more malt and little less hop presence if that description is to be met. If, as they say, this was intended as an easy drinker the hops should be cut by about 20%. As for malt this is one of those dishes where you can't tell if the meat is chicken or pork.

Howdy folks! Hey it's garbage & recycling time here and the trucks arrive early tmrw morning. Time to enjoy and recycle this Founders The Cranfather barrel aged fruit 'n field 11.1% thingy. Got it 2 months ago. Sunny & cold here so the barrel should ease that. Inspector approved! Cheers!

 

Finished grilling and made 2 pastrami dogs for lunch. Ball Park beef dog, Boar's Head pastrami, American cheese, mayo, mustard and chopped onions, with a Second Fiddle.
