Is Craft Beer Cringe Right Now?

I only buy double decocted lagers than have been lagered near freezing temperatures for many moons

I really couldn’t care less about what TikTok users do or think.

Or for that matter, what anyone does or thinks…

 

I hope to God I never tire of being "cringe" as these trend-chasers use the term. Craft beer will be around long after "the hive" and their unsophisticated palates have moved on to some other low-hanging fruit.

I was gonna write something , but I'll let my silence speak for me.

 

Talk about “cringe”, I got about halfway through reading that article and I just couldn’t go on.

To the general topic of “Serious Beer Person” and “cringe” this is where I come down: people should be able to enjoy what they like (e.g., Juicy/Hazy IPAs, Pastry Stouts, Fruited Sours, whatever) but those folks really shouldn’t look down upon people who have differing tastes.

On BA there is often ‘spirited’ discussion about AAL beers with derisive descriptions used to detail those sorts of beers. OK, you don’t like AAL beer and it would appear that you ‘don’t get it’ that the vast majority of beer consumers purchase those kinds of beers; really no absolute requirement here to express denigrating comments. In the immortal words of B-Rad:

 

A lesson I learned from my one Psychology course in college: "Nothing pisses people off more than other people".

P.S. Plus it has the word "piss" in it which alludes to beers like macro AAL beers!

 

It’s always annoying to get through an article that’s clearly written by someone that doesn’t fully understand the history or community behind it.
That aside, most of my beer friends make fun of me for still being on ba. Maybe ba is the cringe beer nerd group they’re targeting in the article?

 

Well, using the word 'cringe' in this manner is pretty cringe.

 

I would use the terminology of "cringe worthy" vs. "annoying":

I have no idea and don't really care. I'll just keep drinking what I like and ignore what others think.

 

If it is, it should be Untappd. We're always on our phones in the restaurants, pubs, and taphouses, checking in our beers and taking pics to upload. (Bonus: If the place has a menu board that shows Untappd check-ins in real time, I always try to take over the board.) Hell, we even get badges!

Of course we are! I wouldn't have it any other way.

 

I get what they're saying. There are definitely those people in the community. Luckily we lost most of them to bourbon a few years ago.

 

Yeah I'm with @Domingo "Those" people exist in every hobby. They don't bother me. I do/drink my own thing regardless.
