Hey guys, looks like I'll be taking a day trip out to new glarus in the coming month, looking for some recommendations from the regulars (1) good hiking spots in the area (2) go to spot for lunch in New glarus.

Also for those who've had the bourbon scotch ale, how is it tasting?

New Glarus Woods is nicely scenic... and you can adapt a hike to take you across the road to the Brewery. Very scenic also, even if it's not open during the week.

Make sure you're going during the week if you want to visit the brewery! We went out there for an extended weekend and had to shift our days to make sure we could spend some time there!

 

Its been a rotational seasonal I think since I can remember, with my brother first buying some around 02ish.

Glarner Stube is great, just be warned that they tend to be pretty packed (so be prepared to wait or get there early).

Also, Casey's (the gas station/convenience chain) has surprisingly good pizza (both regular and breakfast), as does Sugar River Pizza.

 

Has anyone seen the Imperial Radler? Very curious to try and trade for some when it comes out.

 

How is Kid Kolsch tasting this year? I went from loving it to ok over the years. I feel like my tasters are better at picking up subtlety again, though, so maybe it was Covid rather than old age? And Kolsch seems to be all about subtlety.

 

Also curious. But I'll be grabbing at least a case when I finally decide to drive across the river into Hudson. I need to make up for not having it last year.

 

IMO it's a great batch this year. As always bottles are the way to go with Kid. Grabbed 5 cases on my recent trip to WI.

 

According to The Instagram (and probably The Facebook), Pilsner is now year round. Thought it was strange when I saw it not in the generic seasonal can pack.

Agree: Kid Kolsch is really good.

 

Imperial Radler also has been rolling out this week. Looks to be a boxed 4-pack of cans and weights in at 8.5% ABV.

 

Also on New Glarus' Facebook and Instagram is the release of Zwickel. It's only available at the brewery, unfortunately.
