It's worth it. Great as both a drinking and cooking beer.

It's an awesome beer, and it's reputation is limited by it's distribution and style. Unadulterated porters aren't that in demand, and Yard's distro is just wide enough to not be sought after, but broad enough to not be anything special. Easily one of the better porters in America.

I'm headed to Hershey Park and Philadelphia this year. I am hoping to score some of Yard's porter during the trip.

Driving in western Pennsylvania and stopped for gas. In the Shell, I found Black Butte Porter. Smooth and easy drinking. Cheers.

After many days of drinking Edmund Fitzgerald, I'm switching to Founder's Porter. Bottled only three weeks ago, it tastes amazing.

Even more Black Butte. Perhaps a bit too smooth for my tastes as I like my porters on the bitter and/or smoky side, but certainly a fine beer. Cheers.

Sharing a beer I picked up in VT during Eclipse trip earlier this week. Cross posted in What New England Beer are you drinking. This is Four Quarters Brewing in Winooski, VT and their Owl at Night American Porter, a 6% ABV brew.

    onto my review:
Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my .5L dimple mug. Picked up the cans at the brewery in Winooski a few days ago. No date stamp on the can, but there is a sticker on the 4 pak holder of 9/27.
the beer pours a cola brown and sits slightly darker in the glass. I get a dense yet fluffy khaki head of about 1 cm on the pour. This foam fades to a sturdy edge layer and one large wispy surface island.
Aroma is roasted malt and dark chocolate, almost a charred wood note. Not really any sweet malt notes on the nose. Maybe a little earthy hop note. No abv hints.
First sip reveals a medium body with fine tingly carbonation and very smooth texture. Pretty easy to drink.
Flavor is dark dark chocolate and some roasted malts, lingering roast flavor is a little coffee ground note too. No hint of hops nor ABV.
Pretty solid porter that I am glad to have tried.
