Poll: Time spent on BA while actively drinking beer

Well except for your last two paragraphs, we're mostly alike.

 

While I always seem to be looking for a new brewery to check out, I'm often doing it from a brewery.

 

Definitely lowest, I'm usually online doing other things. BA for me is a desktop only experience, Untappd nailed what I needed in an app. I think the reviews there are more forgiving than here @ cranky old beer nerd corner but often times being too stringent a review can be just as tiresome as too forgiving.

 

I spend all day on BA and I spend all day drinking beer. Can someone please help me with the math? Percentages hurt. I know I need to cut back on both things.

 

But I'm definitely not in that percentile of my class. Something's not right.

 

If it's before 5pm I'm killing some time, after five I'm catching a buzz; as in right now for example. I went with 50-60%.

I picked 30-40% because I think at least 1/3 of my BA time, maybe more, is spent actively entering beer reviews. The rest of the time is researching beers when standing in the store, or tracking various discussion forums

 

I'm drinking beer while reading posts and set it down while making posts.

Now if only I could type one handed . . .

 

I'm definitely in the 0%-10% category. This site is a nice way for me to take little breaks throughout the day. I use it for a few minutes here or there to entertain myself and/or procrastinate (like now). But, when it comes time for actually drinking beer, that's usually happening in one of two scenarios: 1.) I am spending time with friends or loved ones or 2.) I am spending time with my hobbies (playing drums, cooking, home brewing). In both situations, I have no interest in being on my phone/laptop, save for possibly putting up a post on WBAYDN (though I wouldn't do that if I were spending time with other people).

 

At this point I'm in the 70-80% range. It used to be more like 30-40% because I was browsing here a lot just to kill time at work lol. But most of my time on BA these days is reviewing, and generally browsing the forums at the same time so obviously beer is required for that

 

Some of the photographs here really capture a beer, and some of the written descriptions can make those photos come alive in mind. My imaginary beers are greatly enhanced with this excellent help from you and everyone else.

 

I check in on the site briefly at work. Other than that I'm almost always drinking at home when I'm on the site using a laptop. The exception is when I start a thread (not often) and check in on my phone often to read replies. Out in a beer venue on the phone, yes, of course I'm drinking!

 

While I check in frequently, read what interests me, look up beers and places during the week I typically only have a beer in hand for NBW. I got out of WBAYDN since I was starting to overdo it a bit. So 0 to 10%.

If I'm out and visiting breweries I'll snap a picture and jot some notes to enter later. I don't BA in social setting usually. On vacation, all bets on consumption are off but I'm usually with family, fishing, kayaking, etc so not on BA.

 

Just my gut reaction was easily 0-10%. Then I applied some logic and was surprised that it’s probably much closer to 15-20%. So I changed my vote.

 

I drink a lot of beer from 3-8 pm and that's when I'm on this site. When I'm beer shopping this site is invaluable in a purchase crisis, that's the 5%.

 

My quiet time, when I have access to the computer and no honey-do list hovering over me is with my morning coffee. I rarely am hanging around online by lunchtime. Also most of my beer consumption is while I am taking a break from some hard labor my wife has sentenced me to, so I'm sitting on the porch sippin a beer.
