Transient Artisan Ales '22 Buckley Select #5 (Imperial Stout w/ vanilla, Tugboat coffee, and Michigan maple syrup aged in Laird's Apple Brandy barrel for 18 months). Charred oak tannin and some brandy come through, although not super apple-forward which is disappointing. Dark roast coffee, maple syrup, vanilla bean, roasted malt, dark chocolate fudge, slight Hershey's syrup. This smelled sweet, but the coffee and barrel on the taste balance it all out nicely. Very enjoyable.

I was curious to see if another can of The Gadget would taste different today since the one I had yesterday didn't taste the best to me. This time around, I poured it much slower and made sure that no sediment made it into the glass. It is also worth noting that the beer is cooler this time around. I must say that all of those factors seem to have come together to make this beer much more enjoyable to me. There are no off tastes, and the flavor is not overwhelmingly tart while still feeling fresh and fruity. Cheers![IMG]

Foreign Local/Narrow Gauge Apathy is a Cold Body APA (Citra, Galaxy, Riwaka). Solid hazy pale that’s refreshing and full of flavor.

    1) Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel (5.3%): A German Dunkelweizen with flavors of orange citrus, bread, banana, and yeast.
    versus
    2) Tucher Dunkles Hefe Weizen (5.2%): A German Dunkelweizen with flavors of rich bread, banana, caramel, yeast. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Tucher Dunkles Hefe Weizen:

Dunkelweizen battle. Weihenstephaner ranked #1 and Tucher ranked #13. First is Weihenstephaner. It pours lighter, both has similar head and aromas. Slightly more banana and bready notes in here. Less caramel and darker tones. Hard to tell them apart until they warm ab it. Overall very similar, but after trying these two side-by-side a couple of times now I think I prefer Tucher.

A little yardwork out of the way, now for a deck beer. Found Bell's Hazy Hearted for $5.01 for a six pack yesterday, and having never had it, thought what the hell. Well worth the price I paid. Cheers!

Hop Butcher Peak Mosaic TIPA (100% ’23 lot Mosaic). I had their Nelson version of this, but it doesn’t even touch this one. Big herbaceous dank, cannabis, ripe blueberry, big mango sorbet, cotton candy, sugar-dusted ruby red grapefruit, ripe tangerine, orange and grapefruit peel, some sugar-dusted pine. An amazing showcase of the hop. Dangerously drinkable for 10.5%…feels more like 8% Characteristic HB soft and luscious feel. This one reminds me why people go crazy for their stuff.

    1) Hop Butcher Kielbasa King (7.5% canned 12/27/23): A NEIPA from Chicago with Mosaic and Nelson for flavors of white citrus, grape, overripe berry, melon.
    versus
    2) Hop Butcher Lord Octopus (7.5% canned 1/30/24): A NEIPA from Chicago with Mosaic for flavors of orange, white grape, pink cotton candy. Hints of berries and mango. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

    Winner: A draw.
Hop Butcher NEIPA Battle. First is Kielbasa King. One of my favorites from them. Mosaic plus Nelson, so you already know it's going to be a banger. The Nelson brightens it up a bit, but still incredibly tropical berry notes. This one is so good still at it's 3 month mark.
Next is a new one for me. Lord Octopus. All Mosaic here. Very similar flavors. A touch more grape and mango notes. Incredible as well. Which is better? Somehow they are too similar to call. You tell me if there should be a winner here. Lord Octopus has a touch more of a pop, probably from being a month newer, but Kielbasa King will go down as one of my favorites from them. Next I need to get one of those Hop Butcher glasses that @brewskis has.

I love their style. You can usually get something shipped off of their website. At the moment the store site is giving me trouble, but if I remember correctly, there's something for sale. Cheers!
