I see the Saturday WBAYDN is going strong. Beautiful weekend in North GA. A little windy and cool but bright & Spring-like. After a couple runs to the HD, Lowes & Pike the yard work is done for the day. Time to relax a bit. Popping this Hamm's to slake that thirst you only get from manual labor. Yeah, you know what I'm talking about. The guy that checked me out at the grocery store earlier marveled at 4.77 for six pack. He declared "that's a quite bit less than my Blue Ribbon!" To which I just smiled and said "and better too."

Kicking it to some Art Pepper.

 

Boulevard Brewing Rested Reserve (12.0%): A BBA Stout from Kansas City with flavors of rich chocolate, cocoa, bourbon, caramel, and toffee.

Second go at this Stout, and working on finish off some of these stouts for the year as I've learned I don't really like aging them as much as drinking them fresh.
This is a big one. Heavy, rich chocolate, bourbon, with sweet complex malt flavors underneath. Maybe I should have let this one age a year, because the malt flavors are already strong and complex.
Oh well, going to slowly sip and enjoy this big boy over the next few days.

 

Wow, that a big bold one. At 12%, if they hid the alcohol well, that one can really sneak up on you.

 

OMG, I-77 N was a parking lot…just now getting to the brewery, drinking “Shrouded in Light” a Czech style pilsner, on tap at Weathered Ground Brewery:

Scratch Brewing is a local flora based brewery in Ava, in southwest Illinois. I have yet to visit for no particular reason. They boast using local ingredients that are out of the ordinary, while still being respectful and a throw back to a simpler time. This is their Hickory Lager using toasted hickory bark.
Clean and almost crisp. The subtle smoke flavor is nice.



A perfect match with mussels cooked in Unibroue's Blanche de Chambly.

More Townes...among my favorite live albums ever. I have been by the old Old Quarter building in downtown Houston many times. It was just never a concert venue since I have been here ...It is still a venue in Galveston, but that is just a place that bought the name so not really the same ha, but it is still a cool venue for what it is.

Anyway, need a Houston lager to go along with this...that means Saint Arnold H-Town Pils.

 

I saw that, yikes, at least he was moving his extremities.

Have wanted to stop at Sacred Profane in Biddeford ME, had a chance today. Layer of their Pale and Dark. Cool spot

 

Dang, when the wife is on a cleaning spree I can barely get a beer in. Sun therapy now with TG Haze Smacker.

 

One of my favorite Kolsch style beers. Good Word Brewing makes a terrific one in At The Alter of The Sun. Todd D. should be proud of this beer.

Time to fire up the grill! Burgers on the menu this evening.

 

Spent the day cleaning, digging, and prepping the backyard gardens for flowers. I’m dirty, tired, and definitely ready for a beer. Cheers!
