Welcome to the Modern Times 2024 thread. This is for those who are interested in MT, but also League members. Looks like details of the first member bottle sale will be sent out tomorrow.

They may not be peak rn overall but I had some recent pastry stouts last weekend and they were as good as I remembered.

The base stock has gotten better. I think they said the average age in barrels was like 18 months sometime last summer. Now if they can improve the IPA's back to where they were.....

I thought the craft community basically dumped this brand. I’m surprised to see them still in business at all.

I think everyone assumed they would crumble after the Maui takeover. Everything I've heard and seen is that they are still who they were and brewing the same stuff. Excited to try this year's Modem Tones and Decahex aged in Rittenhouse barrels for 26 months.

well, that's 100% incorrect. including about 95% employee turnover since 2020, the head recipe guy recently left.

I was 95% referring to the beer, not people. Recipes don't leave with people. The beer itself hasn't changed noticeably.

So went to pick up my bottle of Altar of the Orc Lord (double barrel barleywine) at Native Son in Orange on Wednesday. They were supposed to keep the bottles until April 14th. Got there and they said they sent them back to the San Diego location. I was a little pissed since it was quite a drive. I reached out to MT on Wednesday evening. They immediately shipped the bottle to me (at not cost), and they tossed in two other barrel-aged stout bottles for free. Arrived this afternoon. I gotta say that I'm very happy with their custom service, and they plan to take things up with Native Son to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Same thing happened when my trustee went to grab January allocations a few weeks ago. I think that was the first NS was aware of it, and now MT/NS are hopefully on the same page. The guy at NS (correctly) pointed out that last year it was just one month, and the MT guys grabbed the prior month and brought them back with them, so it was just a miscommunication all around on the (very helpful) extra month window this year.

MT also came through for me and shipped directly to my trustee for free. I am happy with the resolution, and happy I stuck with my membership a couple years ago when things were rocky. I have thoroughly enjoyed my 2023 allocations and purchases, and am looking forward to the first 2024 releases when my trustee box drops in a few days.

Damn, that's great to hear. I don't regret leaving the League when I did, but I would join again for what it is now.

Can someone provide the original details for the 2024 League membership? Considering a half year membership since it’s so close, but wanted to compare to the original full year info

Did any League/Theory members receive communication from MT that the membership program is being discontinued next year, amidst the Point Loma shutdown and overall change in brewing operations?

Very odd that they put out a formal public release several days ago saying 2024 will be the final year of the League of Partygoers but did not communicate directly to club members, unless I somehow missed it…

Anyway, sad to hear the news as 2024 has continued a run of fantastic releases over the past several years.
