Do any of you have any beer traditions that you like to follow?

For example - every birthday, I make sure I have a bottle of Orval.

I'd love to hear some of the traditions you other BA's have.

Not really, the only one I can think of is to never be thirsty.

I've really come to enjoy a Cantillon Brouscella Gran Cru on Thanksgiving. Goes great with all that heavy food

I don't know if it's a 'tradition' more than a 'routine', but I always follow a low ABV beer with a higher ABV beer, and vice versa. I guess it is an almost nightly tradition

Every year when Christmas rolls around I put together a lineup of beers for the 12 Days of Christmas, plus Christmas Eve, Epiphany, and New Year's Eve. I photograph the beers in proper glassware  for a series of WBAYDN posts which also include holiday-themed artwork (Old Masters as well as contemporary artists) and videos of Christmas carols and the like. I've been doing this since 2016. Am I insane? You be the judge.

Two similar traditions: The best sour that I can find to go with my Thanksgiving meal, and a Samichlaus for with my Christmas dinner. I've had to skip the Samichlaus the past two Christmases because that stuff is getting harder to find. I'll have to look for it year round before it's gone from the stores.

Never drink beer from the can directly, always pour out into the glass.

Always have 12 beers or more on hand. There's a little man that lives in my garage and he starts complaining when the stock gets low...

    I love this.

My best friend and I now live in different states (he in CO, me in CA) but we have made a point every summer now since 2020 to meet up and hike state high points or other prominent peaks. Thus far we've split summit beers on Torreys Peak, Grays Peak, Mt Elbert, Mt Massive, Boundary Peak, and Handies Peak. Looking forward to Wheeler Peak this August along with a redux of Shavano/Tabeguache which we got thunderstormed off of last summer. The summit beer has become a well-loved tradition for us that I look forward to keeping going for a long time.

For me it used to be Hardywood GBS variant releases... now that's probably been replaced by Benchtop's Wicked Walter yearly releases (particularly the variants)

Sounds like people I'd love to hike with! Post some pics on WBAYDN and tag me when you do that. Perhaps we need a thread for backcountry beer if there isn't one already? Cheers and happy trails! :beers:
