In "mildly interesting" news, Bottom Up Wit is on at the taproom. I can't remember the last time I saw this, but I believe it's one of Rev's original core beers. It's never been a favorite of mine.

In "thank the old FUPA Gods, and the new", DB VSOD is on draft. I'm at the Weirwood tree paying my respects.

The 19.2oz variants are insane. That is all.

Sounds like they need a Straight Jacket...

Love the concept and format, and looking forward to trying them. That said, it seems that these variants (and a couple other recent examples) depart from previous Deep Wood offerings which generally kept to a single additional flavor - coffee, fruit, etc. Out of curiosity, is this a trend driven by customer demand, or just exploration by the Rev team?

Anyone have the details on what Stoopermassive Cafe Deth is? Is that reg Supermassive + caramel for a stroopwaffel vibe?

"Sick and tired of having to choose between beer and coffee? We've got you covered! Fully embracing the spirit of "stupid things done smartly," this caffeinated incantation is at once both V.S.O.D., and Dark Matter cold-brew coffee.

With over twenty[!] pounds per oak barrel of Guatemalan and El Salvadorian coffees, "Stoopermasive" is twice as coffee-forward as Supermassive, and nearly eight times as regular old Café Deth. Quite simply, it's coffee made from beer."

Sounds like a stoopid amount of coffee

Stupid question and I've asked this before - are we expecting distro (at least Binny's distro like we saw with VSOR Select) on the regular Supermassive Cafe Deth 4-packs? With a limit of 4, it seems they would have enough for at least local distro. But I think when I asked it before, someone said brewery pickup only.

If you're talking about canned releases, the only one that I think really fits that description to me recently is Life Jacket which used coconut in addition to fruit. That was intentionally done in the Summer where we've always gotten more playful.

The new series is finally an answer to you all asking us to bring back Crowlers of variants like we did so often during COVID (cause there were no release parties). I've documented in here many times that I was working on a way to do this and here it is.

This particular release though is all about Dark Matter, who are so fun to partner with. Dark Matter now makes incredible chocolates and released their first Deep Wood barrel-aged VSO Gravedigger chocolate bars in February. When looking for ways to riff off Supermassive to debut our 19.2s, adding their chocolate seemed like a fun experiment for the new format. It came out incredible.

The real answer though is that Marty is an artist and we generally allow him to create whatever his mind wants to make that he believes are fans will get jazzed about. That approach has made us successful and we're sticking with it. He runs the ideas through me and others to battle test them and make sure we agree that our fans would respond well, but there's no rule book saying what he/we can or can't do.

No distro and that limit 4 is just a perk for prior year Season Ticket Holders. This is the smallest release we've done in probably 4 years or so. The public sale may need to be a good bit less on the limit size, depending on how Monday goes.

Thanks for the heads up. Can you give any indication on comparative limits and availability for the stovepipe variant cans for non Season Ticket holders?

Here's my dream scenario and keep in mind, I bat .000 in predicting these things...

I would love for the 19.2s to nearly sell out in the Season Ticket Holder pre-sale, but not quite, because that would mean that all Season Ticket Holders had a day to get hooked up early for their commitment to our program. Given the quantity we made and the number of individuals, I set the limit at 4 as my best way to attempt to achieve that. That includes assuming plenty of people will sleep on it or just not max out.

If I'm being honest, I'd love to grow our season ticket holders next year so that we can continue to take risks + have more flexibility and you don't do that these days without showing more value and giving more access than ever. While the Season Ticket gives you all a pretty solid price break, I'm looking for us to do a lot better than that in the future. I want you all to have the ability to take crazy variants to your friends house or on trips to sip around the fire pit and frankly I don't want our Taproom team filling them up 1 by 1 behind the bar with a crowler machine. They need to go through our canning line to hold up for extended periods and it took awhile to solve a few challenges around how we'd can such small amounts. But here we are, locked and loaded.

    Internal conversation earlier today:

Responsible Me: "I do not need to be buying more beer right now"

Irresponsible Me: "ok, but 2 cans or 4 cans of the variants"

Me after reading this: "4 cans it is"

First and foremost, I think I can speak for most in this thread when I say thanks for continuing to come on here and provide us this info and insight. It's much appreciated.

Secondly, I don't plan to max out. I'll buy one of each, maybe 2 of each if my buddy that I do the season ticket with wants them too.

Third, that pacakge sounds sweet. I like this idea quite a bit. If I hadn't already bought an extra 4 pack of On & On I'd be all over this.

Lastly, you should partner with someone and do some DW hot sauces. Please and thank you.

One of my favorite things is "voting with my dollars". The same way I blindly renew my Music Box Theater membership every year without any consideration for my financial benefit, I gladly renew my season ticket with Revolution. These are Chicago institutions that I would mourn greatly if they went away; why not throw them support every year to give them security to keep being weird & taking risks?

Oh, yeah, if you like movies & live in Chicago, for the love of the FUPA Godz go to the Music Box.

[Obligatory "thank you for coming to my TED talk" finish]

I gotta say, you guys are making a very compelling case for me doing the season ticket thing sometime soon. I've only stayed out because there's no way I'm drinking through all those beers, but I'm also a "vote with your money" guy, and I think this program is awesome.

@BeerCruncher my pie in the sky thought - I don't suppose you guys have considered doing smaller passes (something like "you only get one 4-pack per release" or "October release pass")? Probably a logistics nightmare on your side, just makes my "wife will lock me on the roof with my beer fridge if I hoard this much" dilemma easier, lol.

@GuyFawkes to your point, I hate going to theaters (I hate watching movies with crowds), but I try to get to the Music Box whenever I do, that place is a treasure. It's been great to see how they pivoted during the pandemic/learned from it and are doing better than ever. My brother is a member and practically lives there.
