Yeah, the confusion I was addressing was more general: Caligione - possibly - confusing Arrogant Bastard with other Stone beers (Anniversary series, Ruination) yet none of those beers were labeled "Imperial", Steele saying the June 2002 release of a Stone Anniversary was the "first regularly bottled imperial or double IPA in the world" yet Dogfish Head claims 90 Minute Ale was released in 2001 while the Hop Culture article says 1999.

    Uh-oh:

OK, the ABV and the ("resounding") IBUs don't fit today's US definition of an Imperial IPA but, WTF, they're the ones with a King (Queen at the time) and an Empire (well, used to)...

They have/had quite a few hazy IPAs and on the shelves now is Hazy Squall, Citrus Squall (not technically an IPA but hazy), Nordic Spring. Hazy-O is not being distributed anymore but that was a popular one for a minute also.

I was obviously making a joke based around a pun from his use of the word hazy. I didn’t think that needed to be explained….

    Hello Everyone,

Creator of the Original Post Topic here and I Im glad to see that there is still is an overall interest at the very least in Dogfish Head. I do hope they don't go anywhere and while they may not be as "Off Centered" to some as they used to be, I think think we call all agree they are still making great quality beer at affordable prices and trust me if you can find hyper fresh 60min IPA, lets just say, you can thank me later.

    Cheers BAs!

Just to clarify: are you saying Dogfish Head is still relevant to you?

I would be lying to you if I said they were always relevant to me. I too got caught in the massive local brewery bubble. But having rode that bubble until for lack of a better word it "bursted", I have found myself full circle once again. Once Again finding an appreciation for the classics and Pioneers that allowed and paved the way for beer to be what it is today. I do find that the " Lupulin Shift " is 100% a real factor and that it can get in the way of us being able to rejoice in the classics, given the recipe remains mostly unchanged of course. I also find 12 oz cans to be weird because I am so used to 16 oz cans. But over all, yeah, its good to be full circle and way more affordable.

Not DFH, but I recently found and drank fresh Union Jack and Torpedo mix pack and it was nice revisiting the old school IPAs.

I recently found hyper fresh SNPA and had a similar experience. I usually never find super fresh SNPA. It was a nice treat.

I got in a rabbit hole of looking at Sam's old videos, there are some really neat ones but I'll post this one, 12 years old, since it is currently available at the brewpub...I love listening to him talk about beer.

I plan on having a 60 Minute tonight in some proper DFH Glassware from my trip to Delaware years ago. I'd love to go back, I loved their brewpub.

90 Minute is still my platonic ideal of an IPA. When dates are good (and I'd love to hear from @SamCalagione on that topic), it's still a fridge staple for me that goes very quickly.

No, it was. But jokes are better when not everyone gets them, so I consider this a win!

Hmmm, I missed the humor first read. Went back, gave it my best shot, but found nothing at all funny. Give me a hint? Was it word play? Satire? Dark humor? Parody? Just a wee hint. Whataya say?
