I need to log off social media today (not BA). Seeing the true nature of man is just a grim reminder of the world we occupy. I see your true colors. Do I still love you? I'm not sure. Cheers!

Basically took the day off to get the car maintained. Shop is near a park that I walk around while I wait. Was checking out the camera/phone's ability to identify flower types. After it told me of tulips and pansies, I gave it something that I had the specifics on and I think it got tired of playing the game:
(the park has it labeled as "flowering quince")

Home, I dealt with some financial stuff and that has driven me to a beer, in a glass I spent a couple dollars on at the thrift store also near the car shop:

Sigh! “Social” medias. Log off, tune out breath fresh air and go kiss a girl instead. Best advice I can give about them.

My dog was just barking, which typically means there's someone on the porch. I walked outside to find a box of North Park that I don't recall ordering. Moral of the story: Always be careful when you're drinking because you might spend money on things you don't really need. Haha! Stone IPA... yet again! I love you.

Catching up on posts, and Charlie's Citraholic post and Beachwood's Melrose release (so wish we got these here) inspired this pull.

@GuyFawkes I used to go quite a bit to The Music Box while I lived six blocks west and worked downtown (convenient walk or brown line trip) but IIRC, 63 UP a couple months before the lockdowns was the last film I saw there (or any theatre, Once Upon A Time In Hollywood the last "commercial" release). Will need to check out the Coming Attractions to rectify this once the weather is nicer.

They had the ten film pass, not a season pass, under the previous owners, and we went through quite a few over the years. Miss the Film Festival being there (though their lineups went south over the years).

Very light golden color with decent white cap. Aroma of mild lightly spiced malt.

Taste is subtile and refined with a noticable spice presence that reminds me of lightly spiced holiday wine. Indeed there is a vinus quality to the texture as well. It isn't fruit punch heavy or sweet, rather a lightly tingling sensation of spiciness that comes through on the whitbeer base.

It's worth trying if only for the experience.

    1) Paulaner Muncher Hell (4.9%): An original German helles with flavors of earthy honey and German bread. A smooth finish.
    versus
    2) Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn (6.0%): A German Festbier with flavors of pale malt, dry bread, grains, yeast. Crisp and carbonated. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

    Winner:
    2) Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn
: Paulaner battle. Their helles vs their festbier and a good way to finish off the last festbier from last year. I also think these drink pretty well in the Spring, not only the fall. First is their helles lager. Pale malts, authentic German bread flavors. Very balanced and nice.
Next is their Festbier. Pours identical, but the aromas and flavors are stronger here. A little more earthy and toasted bread notes, otherwise very similar. I enjoy both of these but head-to-head I really like their festbier better. Both are great beers.

Fine golden color to the body, clear; fairly dense carbonation, lively; thick, frothy head, white and long-lasting with a fine creamy cap. Light caramel hit on the nose; ripe Fall harvest fruit notes like apple and pumpkin. Malt-forward taste with a subtle hop bitterness; light caramel and toasted grain; a suggestion of pumpkin. Medium body; crisp with a soft underbelly of residual sugar.

I would love to have tried this collaboration offering back during Oktoberfest, but this beer wasn't on my radar. It should have been. Still, with around nine months of age, this malty lager delivers some very satisfying flavor and mouthfeel.
