Yes, Heineken has a bad habit getting leadership positions by take overs and after that in "rationalisation" of the local markets. Commercially it probably makes sense. But diversity and quality got lost on the way to bigger profits.

1) Hop Butcher After Rain (4.75%): A Pilsner with Tradition, Liberty & Saphir hops for flavors of lemon citrus, citrus flower, smooth pale malts. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)
versus
2) Phase Three P3 Pils (4.7%): An American Pilsner from Chicago with flavors of lemon citrus, floral notes. yeast. Clean and crisp. (Correctly matched the two beers blind)

Chicago Pilsner Battle. Hop Butcher vs. Phase Three once again. First is Hop Butcher. Pretty hoppy. Nice citrus notes, a little flower as well. Fairly smooth. Could use a bit more bitterness, but nice mildly sweet, smooth finish.
Phase Three has another good one. Listed as an American Pils, but drinks closer to a German Pilsner. Similar flavors. More yeasty and crisp, but less flavor overall. Both are pretty great and enjoyable. Gonna give Hop Butcher the win here for the nice flavor combination.

with an Extra Sunny 8.2 % ABV IPA.

 

Time for another brewskie. Fernson brews awesome beers and that Imp IPA is slammin'. But, I need to tone it down ABV wise a smidge. Final tin of 4 Hands//Surly Voltron V4 HIPA with lunch. Cheers!
