More than 60 of our brewery friends as the Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Fest returns to Paso Robles in 2024.

The Firestone Walker Invitational Beer Fest was born from a dream of creating a world-class festival featuring some of the best brewers in the world. This is a day when we can set the sales pitches aside and simply share our beers and stories with passionate craft drinkers. It’s all about the brewers, their beers, good music, and folks who care.

I'll be there as always, look for the balding bearded guy at the Adelaide pool.

Are the lines to get a single pour of beer still a mile long?

You would be easier to find if you said "clean-shaven". =P

I'll be looking to attend my first FWIBF if I can grab tickets on Tuesday. Per their IG, GA tickets are $135 and VIP (one hour early) are $270. My initial thoughts is that's probably not worth the upgrade. Anyone have any personal experience at this festival? Any idea what most people do after it's over at 5pm? Hit up a local bar/brewery? Thanks!

I had a regular ticket last year and got nearly everything I was after.

Looking to get tix this year. I’m aware they sell out quickly but this isn’t a situation where there’s not many tix due to pre-sales to Collective members is it?

@Dad_of_Rad I don't think so but couple of caveats. This year memberships to their club sold out, I don't know if that happened last year. At the festival, I ran into quite a few people who weren't in the club.

They allocate 500 presale tickets to club members, everything else is available during the public sale.

VIP was 100% luck. People figured out a way to submit their order ahead of most of the crowd (huge fail on the ticketing platform's engineers(?) interns(?) typerwriter-wielding poetic primates(!!)), and the demand from everyone refreshing was causing everyone's requests to timeout - similar to a server crash. Worst part is that they never accounted for this, and so if this happened to you, you'd still see the overlay telling you very clearly to NOT refresh the page and just wait. Forever. And you showed up early like you were supposed to for the sale, and that caused you to miss out.

I'm not sure where the hilarity of the massive negative ticket count on VIP came from, but that's worth mentioning.

For anyone curious, the new ticket system is called Ticketsauce, and their calculator says switching from Eventrbrite to them with an event roughly the same price/scale as FWIBF would save ~$4500 a year. And a 7.5% processing fee/service charge for the buyer on top of that - wasn't Eventbrite less than 4%?

Ticketing was the only smooth part of FWIBF the last few years. Why change it?

I actually had issues with it last year, wasn't in the market this year to compare but I was stuck looking for secondary market tix last year after it let me add to my cart but then dropping them when I was in the checkout process, ad infinitum...

I ended up refreshing a couple of times right after 10am PT and was able to push a transaction through. Unfortunately, no extras to share on here.

When you mentioned only ticketing was the smooth part of FWIBF - what from your previous experience lacked? Interested to hear, since this will be my first one. Any tips/tricks? Thank you!

Got to go last year, but missed out on tickets this year. Where are people reselling them these days? I know the only time I resold tickets it was on here at face value but that was 2018. Not sure we can even sell tickets on here anymore without getting in trouble.

I grabbed two in the presale. Got two buddies coming regardless. Hit me up when you’re there Friday with an extra ticket, or sooner. Either way.

not a fan of the sale on a Tuesday, its always been on Friday. I got shit to do on Tuesdays.

My buddies and I managed to snag two VIP and had the loading glitch so had to settle for a third GA… if anybody is looking to swap a VIP for GA (plus difference of course), let me know!
