you may be able to recommend a beer that YOU PREFER over anything from Stone or SN. But you can’t argue with the fact that they continue to crank out high quality beers.
You don’t find an off flavor. You won’t find a packaging issue.

I love SN’s “classic” WCIPAs. Hard to beat pale ale, torpedo, or of course, Celebration.

Stone - I could agree with them having lost their way for a few years with all these fruited IPAs (pass). But with the return to the classics (RIS, SSR, ruination, etc) they’re getting a ton of my money lately.

Ya. We had this conversation already on this thread about 3 weeks ago. If I could have deleted that post I would have.

It's funny to see the evolution of craft beers place in the culture in the responses to your heretical post. The argument about technical quality regardless of personal preference is exactly what people would always say about criticism of Budweiser and the like 15 years ago.

I used the Stone beer finder, and found it at the only place in Brooklyn they listed. Understandably, that place is a store that always sells the Stone limited releases.

This renewed release is a nice black IPA, but it somehow doesn't feel the same as the old one. I even thought that I was not into black IPAs anymore, so poured a Founders All Night session black IPA after having SSR. Despite being half of ABV, it had more flavor for my taste.

I hear ya about the flavor, for me the taste starts out big but drops off at the finish. Mostly hops during the aftertaste, missing the expected roasted barley lingering on.

Not anymore astringent than most examples but the alcohol is a bit forward.

I had the 2015 Enjoy By Black IPA unfortunately that was before I began reviewing. Based on a 9 year memory, I liked the Enjoy By version better.

This is by no means a disappointment.
    Cheers.

The only thing I don't like about this release is that I can't find any in Chicago. I guess I'm a victim of modern day shit distribution?

I grabbed a sixer two weeks ago. The first can seemed different than years past. Tasted stronger in the alcohol and less of the dark malt and hops. I was disappointed. But then a few days later I popped open another can, this time it popped like I remember it. Piney bitterness and dark malt without much alcohol burn. Not sure if it was a bad can or the temp was off the first time around. Needless to say, I’m happy with this release. Looking forward to the next few cans and looking forward to the Double Bastard release.

Awesome fukin beer. Hoppy but malty, perfectly balanced. Really wish I could get more than just the six pack I had. Was gone in 5 days. I’ve checked the beer finder on Stones website several times a week but still nothing in southern Nevada. Gotta go all the way to Sparks it looks like, 7-8 hours is just a TAD too much for me.
I’m assuming if a store hasn’t gotten it by now they’re probly not gonna get it.
“The most requested beer to bring back” and then they decide to make it a small batch. Make it make sense as the kids say.

This one finally showed up at what is apparently the only store that I visit regularly that even carries stone product.

Pushing 2 months old but still good as ever. Super citrussy on the nose with a sort of chocolate orange coffee dark bread flavor with a bitter herbal finish.

Sounds weird when I write it but tastes good in my mouth
